AFTV or RK3288
Looking to get a box with the rk3288 chipset , but how does it compare to the amazon fire tv ? I've already got a aftv but was thinking of putting it on **** as I'm disappointed I still cannot get root on it , I can get it rooted for £25 but not sure if it would be worth itTags: None

I have a rooted Amazon Fire TV but don't have any idea what that offers over a standard AFTV, nothing so far to me since Google Play Store doesn't think many apps are compatible. I guess I would have to spoof the store, make it think it is something else but I haven't tried to figure out how that is done and since apps can be side loaded to a standard AFTV, even that won't get me anything.
One big issue for me to replace an approved box like AFTV with an unapproved Android mini PC, no HD from most or all of the mainstream streaming services like Netflix, HBO GO, Amazon Prime, etc., that requires an approved device. One of these unapproved boxes, rooted or not, either won't work period or will only play in standard defintion.
If there are a number of things only possible with a rooted AFTV, I would like to know what that would be.

I guess ask yourself what is the RK box do that I can't do on the AFT.
If its not you main interest then go for it.
Keep both and have a fiddle.
