Someone installed it on X7 ?

I'm waiting my X7 (has been shipped Yesterday with DHL)
I'm considering to install Win 10 TP on it,
where I can find a guide on how to do it ?

    thanks for your help

You should already know how to do it if you have installed windows before. Install all the drivers from the driver pack sticky thread when your done.

Yes I Know , I was wondering if I need to do some actions before installing it , perhaps related to partition and recovery

An Upgrade by Windows update wasn't possible with mine.

This should be possible but I don't know how to go about it. A how to guide will be available here before long unless I miss my guess and I think this is something many of us will want to do.

Yes I have installed Windows 10 32bit. It's the same as installing windows 8.

You download the ISO from Microsoft. Then using the tool Rufus (free to download) you make a bootable USB stick. Then with the USB stick plugged in you go to control panel and recovery and tell it to boot from USB stick. It will reboot and run the windows installer.

but user MUST take care and not format or do anything on the Recovery partition
to be able to go back to original 8.1

                  Windows 10

Just wondering, how much memory is left after installing w10?
And is it faster compared to w8.1?

                        Good job wackidth

Can you post the all the steps you followed to perform the correct installation of win 10 ?

Did you erase all the partitions or you left the win 8.1 recovery partition untouched ?

On the windows 10 installer dialog you DO have a choice to erase partitions.

                          DO NOT DO THAT!

Just format the largest partition (about 21 Gig) and do not touch the other partitions. Then tell it to install Win 10 to that partition.

Guys, the MS installer is pretty smart... ONLY YOU can screw it up! Bottom line NEVER format or erase the recovery partition!
However if you do, AND you do have the original Win 8.1 with Bing ISO... then you still can go back. The license key is stored in the BIOS and that you cannot erase installing Windows!

FYI just to add... when Installing the Windows 10 "preview", it does use your Windows 8.1 with BING license key stored in the BIOS. In other words, it does not ask you for a key when installing.

Well at least it did not for me... When Win 10 booted it was licensed already. So MS is supporting this Win 10 Preview even on OEM BIOS licensed devices!
