Pipo X7 Worked for a couple of days, now no video output

    Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into an issue that has seemed to pop up on my X7. So the box i got was new and was working as expected for a couple of days. Then all of a sudden I tried to used the box and there is no video being output, just a black screen. I've tried unplugging it, i've tried different HDMI cords, and i've also tried a different TV and still nothing. The only thing of interest is when I tried it out on a second TV I get the pop up "Incompatible video received. Check source output settings." Which would be nice to do if I could get anything to come up on screen!

I've left it unplugged overnight to see if that helped but still nothing...

Any help before I pull the last of the hair out of my head???

    Thanks in advance.

A quick update. I tried the unit on a third TV (Newest of the bunch) and it seems to be working like normal. The weirdest thing is that it was working on the other TVs and without any changes that I have made now has stopped working on the 'older' TVs...

I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot this further...but I would like to make it work again on my older equipment.

I use the term older and newer only for reference the age of all the equipment is within 1-2 years.

It sounds like an HDMI communication problem or improper resolution for the given display. Are all three 1080p or a mixture of 720p and 1080p? Are all directly connected to the display or through an AVR or switcher in some cases? The order of when the devices are powered on may be a solution if there are multiple devices in the chain.

Older models and cheap models usually support 720p or 1080i resolutions, but sometimes they do not support 1080p 60Hz. Maybe your resolution has somehow changed. Check your output resolution using the newer TV, and apply a lower resolution (e.g. 720p 50/60Hz) to test it for compatibility with the older TV. Then find the maximum supported resolution and keep it.

            Update 2

So I’ve tried to get this thing working again but can’t seem to figure it out. I busted out an older projector as well (same manufacturer) to prove it’s not a projector manufacturer/pipo issue, but since it works i have no clue. I've tried setting the output to a lower resolution but it seems that the HDMI connection decided on what resolution to output depending on the device connected. I’m stuck using two projectors currently (one dedicated to the Pipo only because the projector is lower quality but it works) and would love to go back to using one. Hopefully someone can figure this out or direct me to how to do more troubleshooting.

What about updating the video driver? Just in case.

I just received my X7 today as well. When I connected my x7 to my Toshiba LCD TVs and my Sony Playstation monitor, nothing shows on the screen. Not even the boot screen. I thought my unit was dead on arrival. However, when I connect my X7 to a Samsung Plasma TV, everything works fine. I am not sure if my problem is the same filafan, it is just odd. I have updated the BIOS from geekbuying, but it does not work. I would like to know if anyone has experienced similar kind of issues as well. Thanks.

If your TV sets fully support Full HD 50/60Hz resolution, so there is no resolution compatibility problem existing, try to use the shortest HDMI cable you may find. Some TV sets tend to be very sensitive to minor signal interference caused by medium to long HDMI cable lengths.

Boot into windows.change resolution to 1280x720 and connect back ither tv that didnt work

My lg 47 inch shows bios and windows 1080p fine.
my other 50 panasonic (cheap low end tv) only shows windows not bios screen) so yes some tvs have problems with resolution

Based on the user manual, the two Toshiba LCD/LED TVs I had support 1080p/24hz/60hz when using hdmi.

Yes. I tried this on my old Samsung TV to make the setting change in Windows, then move x7 onto my Toshiba TVs but still no good. Not sure what else I can do now.

Would there be any BIOS setting that can be changed for this issue?

Your problem seems exactly the same that I had, I thought that it was a BIOS problem too, because I was dealing with the bios last time I powered ok the device, but it didn't, It was a Incorrect HDMI output EDID problem, and change the HDMI cable didn't work for me too.
I read in some forums that power off completely the screen(TV) can solve the problem, and it worked for me, please if you can power off completely and disconnect all hdmi devices from your screen or TV, disconnect the power cable from AC too, wait 10-15 minutes or so with all cables disconnected , then connect power plug to AC and power on the TV, power it off again, then connect the Z64 HDMI to the TV, power on and see if it works. It worked for me.
I had this problem too with an rk31 device, but that time it was only a problem with sound, and to fix it I made the same.

If you look at my previous post carefully, I suggested that you should also try using the shortest HDMI cable available, and of course of decent quality. Some devices may have problems with the clarity of the HDMI signal. Read the following posts from the Voyo Mini PC forum.

I got Voyo mini pc in the mail today from geekbuying. I connected the power cable, then the HDMI and I get nothing on my TV. The TV says there's no signal. I've tried holding down the power button, switching inputs, switching HDMI cables and USB cables with no luck. I haven't done anything to the box other than remove it from the packaging. Anyone able to shed some light on this situation?

On the back there's no light next to the HDMI port but there is a tiny green LED next to the power / micro USB. I've tried another TV and also tried 2 other cables from K-R42 boxes I owned. All 3 cables are known to be working.

It's now booting into windows on my TV using a 5th cable (the previous cables work just fine on all the other boxes that have a mini HDMI) I'm going to do some updates and hopefully it'll make it a bit more stable. Thanks for the help everyone. I really appreciate it.
