I'm really not sure. Seems the drivers aren't great otherwise we would have audio pass through without issue!

Do we have any news on a custom ROM? Even a custom kernel that allows 1080 and a custom libmedia.so to enable passthrough in spmc

Hi,
I badly need help as I managed to brick a device that has the very same board as the one shown in the first post.
What I have done:
(1) installed and configured Kodi with a bunch of addons;
(2) rooted the device with RootGenius.

After I rooted the box, it died while playing an audio stream in Kodi. It switched off then never came back. Every time I press the power button, the lights will turn red for 6-7 seconds then turn off.
No output on HDMI, nor A/V. Even more catastrophic, the PC does not detect its presence on USB; it used to connect well in the past before the crash.
I also pressed recovery and power but with no effect.

The lights will also turn and stay red when I connect the USB cable (and the power adapter cable); this way the LEDs wont turn off but will not turn blue either...

Anyone can tell what seem to be the remaining options in this case? I am desperately trying to make it recognized by the computer on USB in order to flash it but it seems it has a serious power on problem for now.

Will it be an option to flash it by microSD card?

Sorry to hear, I too had this trouble with one of my CS-918, and had to return it to the dealer to get it repair. I think the one option is to use UART & Putty to flash your ROM. Look around the forum, I am sure others did this on this model boxes as well.

I will check with the dealer too, but returning the item to China is costly and unsecure.. I had bad experiences in the past.
I just don`t understand if rooting the device could break anything...

Hi Guys,
I have the same problem, when power on the device the red led goes on for 3-4sec and the power off. No Blue light and nothing on TV.
I am trying to connect the box with RK Flash tool, i get the message below "Found RKAndroid MaskRom Rock Usb" but when i try to Erase IDB i get the ERROR:MaskRom must choose Loader for erasing.
What am i doing wrong?

im confused about the many different Versions of the Box,by the Name i was sure that the cyxtech_rk31_cs918.... roms fits to the Box,but no Chance.
Can somehow explain for which Keywords i have to search Firmware?
Is v7 similiar to Q7
,can i use v7.10 or a higher Version number e.g. #20150121,
by the SoC RK3188-t can i use FW for T-R42
or is only for
"Cs918 v7_0 #20141208"
possible?

discjockeyr while I was experimenting (unsuccessfully at this time) trying to create a bootable SDHC card - I noticed that exact behaviour with an incomplete boot area on SDHC. I think you managed to overwrite the boot area (first 81920 sectors) in NAND with invalid data. I'm unable to help you but maybe this extra info could point you to recovery.

Use RKAndroid Tool and activate the Checkbox for Loader under Flash and set the Location to your RKLoader(L).bin then hit "Erase IDB"
This is needed when you flashed your Box bevor with a wrong Image.
Download and Use RKloader(L)2.xx.

I have tried to introduce this rom in a Cs918 v2_6 20140929 and it seems that it works quite.
CS918 v2_6 20140929 has 1GB, the **** seller was saying that 2GB. Claim to the seller.

Usw RKAndroid Tool,Connect the Box to PC,hot Reset and Power in.After a while the Tool say "Rockchip Device found". Then activate Loader (if you haved flash a wrong Firmware before) and activate all Parts that in the Firmware you downloaded and give the Path where they locatet,e.g kernel c:\myrom\kernel.img and so on.if its needed to flash Loader you must download the Loader.bin also and give the Path to this File, dont know the exactly name at this time,i think RKLoader(L).2.16.bin. (Im at the camping suite ;-)) then erase idb twice and when this was successfully done hit flash Rom!
