Google playstore not working

Hi all,

Has anyone run into google playstore not working on the M8/M8N box? The time and date on the box is correct and I even tried updating playstore to the latest version but, there's still a connection error message that comes up when trying to go into playstore.

Have you tried the obvious things like rebooting clearing the cache and sign out and back in,probably have?

Also I no you have said you have tried updating the play store but have you tried uninstalling the updates to the play store, I had a problem with the play store the other day so I uninstalled the updates & it worked fine after.

thanks for the suggestions guys. I did try rebooting, clearing cache, when you say signing out do you mean remove the account from settings and re-adding? I didn't try removing updates, will give that a go when I get a chance and report back.

update: After trying all that was suggested I thought maybe the google play services being out of date was the problem so, I updated that and still nothing. The one thing I noticed when I went to the system update settings the last checked date year for update was 1960 so, it looks like somewhere in the system the date is wrong even though I checked and it shows the correct date.

I updated The google playstore and google play services manually so they were the latest available. can't remember the rom version but, it was a stock rom one of the newer roms from January (box is no longer with me).

edit: checked and the firmware is stock 20150113

I had this problem. The cause was that Google apks were installed in /system/app, I moved them to /system/priv-app and rebooted. Fixed my problem.
