Is it a well known brand name?
Does your box have any stutter or constant buffering when streaming video?

Based on the board layout, I'm guessing T-Chips makes it. If true, same as Ugoos UT3(S) and Nagrace HPH boxes. Though they may have a different take on the F/W.

Thanks, it sounded like a Nagrace.
But would a 2G/16G box be sufficient or would I want a 4G/32G box for streaming?

By the way, why is the Minix good?

I am a more-the-merrier guy when it comes to RAM. Being my first box, and trying to stick to a budget on it at the time, I grabbed the 2GB/16GB UT3. But my preference would have been for the 4/32, if I had no limit. If price is not a concern for you, I'd go with more RAM. Specially if you plan to dual-boot. "Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it." That being said, I have no regrets in picking the 2/16 or the UT3.
I will tell you that video was not my primary interest in a TV box, though mine is used for that at times. So others opinions on video or streaming performance, will be more valuable to you.

BTW Keep in mind I was only guessing as to the Xmedex's origins, I know nothing about that box other than what is shown at their site.

                Yes, it's a Nagrace
I helped improve the firmware for Nagrace that Xmedex use, as at that time there was no dual-boot firmware.
If you are in Australia then you will get warranty if bought from Xmedex otherwise can buy from Xmedex/Nagrace as price is similar.
Video playback is perfect for me. Also Kodi on Linux works very well which other boxes can't do.
I will also release updated firmware in the next few days when I have time.

AMLogic is also good, since they made lots of improvements to their video codecs and videos play very well, but the latest games might suffer as the Mali 450 GPU is a bit old.

Thanks, yes I'm in Australia. Only problem I can see ids that Xmedex is very slow at responding to sales queries. takes them a week to respond then only answer one questions out of four.
So hopefully there technical support isn't as bad.
Good to know there is a developer here. Do you play kodi on Linux or Android?
When you say that you will release updated firmware... is that to Nagrace/Xmedex?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Xmedex box is a rebadged Nagrace seeing the box is assembled in China.

BTW do you know if the Nagrace/Xmedex boxes support 5.1 channel surround sound?

Kodi mostly on Android but also testing on Linux(as Linux Kodi is still very new).
Updated firmware works on Nagrace, Xmedex and UGOOS UT3 since they all use the same board.
Yes, Xmedex is rebranded box for the Australian market.
Nagrace box takes around 6 days DHL shipping and ships out 1-2 days, if you have a question can also ask on their Aliexpress page and maybe buy from them if local support/warranty is not an issue.
So if you have questions, can post in the Nagrace - RK3288 section on Freaktab, as you basically have the same box.

Yes, HDMI/SPDIF 5.1 surround sound works.
There was an issue with certain receivers not working fully but a patch was released for it that I'll use in the new firmware.
You can also use UGOOS UT3 firmware on your box, their latest firmware already includes the passthrough fix for certain receivers giving issues.

So in the US, I'm looking for a Nagrace? I want dual-boot capability(preferably windows) because the wife watches tv from various sites and not all play on the android boxes. Any help is appreciated.
