MX2 8726-MX tv box can't access Recovery (Help!)

I can't access my recovery on the box I already did the usual tooth pick method and all I get is a black screen.

I have 1.2 firmware installed

I am trying to install openelec on it but every time I tried I would always get a update package error.

I also tried to install the stock firmware (1.1.5) that came with the box and same thing happened.

All I want is to install Openelec that is it.

I currently have an M8 quad-core box thats running android on it works perfectly but I still have the MX2 laying around.

Does the box still boot to 1.2 or is it soft bricked? (Black screen blue light)

if that does not help then you may have to go the UART method like I'm about to attempt in my thread, I'm just waiting on the lead.

yes I can still turn on the box fine its just that I think i broke the recovery when trying to install openelec
