help/advice with an mxiii rom

Hi Just purchased this as a bedroom box and would like to stick a custom rom on it X III MX3 Android 4.4 Quad Core 2G/8G

However, after reading god knows how many pages I am now confused and scared to try something in case its the wrong one and I brick it. Can any one point me to best and most recent rom for this particular unit.

I am running the stock 112k4 available here on my MXIII 2GB/8GB but I am not certain all MXIII's are created equal and can run it wel. In addition, the TVADDONS XBMC works well for my needs but I don't have a 4K display and rarely use XBMC. YouTube, forum participation and web browsing are my primary uses. As far as single best ROM, I don't think that is possible for all users needs.

What version is on the box now?

I would suggest Finless Bob's 2.1 ROM; Also using Stanes xbmc 13.2 build. HD playback is early flawless.
