looking for a good stick/box for smooth 1080p video playback

hi, i've had a couple of rk3188 and i must say rockchip is a shitty company. no matter what i did (kernels,CRMs) i always had bad video playback. when i started the dongle up the video was mediocre but somehow watchable, after about 5 minutes it was unbearable.
so now i'm looking for a good dongle/box (i prefer KitKat rom) for about 50-70$, with good wifi and great video playback, i mean really smooth.
i mostly use popcorn time and kodi.

right now i'm thinking about the MXQ S85 (Amlogic S805), but i understand it doesn't have any hardware acceleration. will it inflict the video playback?

please tell me your thoughts because i'm freaking desperate with those rockchip (AKA - garbage) dongles.

    thanks!

Stay with Amlogic, but get the 2gig version. Maybe something like the M8. Ex. http://www.geekbuying.com/item/M8-An...ck-324690.html

You could port it to OpenELEC and that will give you a great player box.

i'm not familiar with OpenELEC, how does it work? is it instead of android? i'm trying to dig some info about it right now but can't really get any explanation. looks exactly like Kodi (which it's based on).
will i see any difference between 1gb and 2gb ram versions? the 2gb costs almost twice.

      thank you!

OpenELEC is a Linux based operating system with kodi overlay.
The 2gig version may cost more but worth it if you are going to run Android.
