    HPH V6 plays audio only in stereo

    Hi there ,
    I've got the HPH V6 4G device , I've set in settings the audio to HDMI Bitstream , I'm kodi i've enabled passthtough and set the audio to 5.1

    When I play any of the files I have locally my AMP recognize them as Stereo , When I connect the MINIX using the same cables to the same port , playing the files works fine in Dolby Digital.

    Any idea why HPH works in Stereo ?

    Is it installed on the box or I need to download and install ?

      But first uninstall all the Kodi/XBMC apps already on the device.
      If firmware on your device is later than 31 December than passthrough will work with SPMC and the built-in video player.
      You can also use my custom ROM v1.5 but the power button is not working at the moment.

      Thank you for the reply.
      I've uninstalled all , My firmware is latest (1.4.5)
      I've download HELIX SPMC , Installed is manually , When tried to play mkv with 5.1 the audio is bad (like white noise) so I've disabled passthrough on SPMC and now audio is stereo again.

      What do you suggest I'll do ?
      My tvbox are always turned on , if power buttons isn't working , I don't mind restarting the tvbox by reconnecting the electricty.

      How do I update the rom using the OTG ?

        It will now detect the drivers, install it if needed. Driver is included in firmware download links.
        Now follow the steps.

        Step 2, 'lowerformat' then 'Run'

        There are certain passthrough devices that are not yet compatible with RK3288 devices.
        People on Beelink & openhour forums complain about it.
        If your device is one of them, then you have to post details about the receiver and the video files you are using so Nagrace or other RK3288 manufacturer can retest it and hopefully provide a solution in next firmware.
        I see , So If I have Ver 1.4.5 installed , there is no added value in installing your ROM for the hdmi problem ?

        Something I don't understand , if passthrough is working , than it should work on all AMPs because once the tvbox send the audio through the HDMI , than all AMPs reads it the same...

          Different passthrough devices communicate differently, believe it or not, not all work, only some and then on different firmware others that didn't work, work again.
          I'll try your firmware.
          I've installed the drivers , got your files from the link (i see many *.img files in the rockdev\image folder). I've launched Android Tool Release , it identified the device , now what ?! click lower format or choose one by one each of your images ?

            That's it.
            It said "found one LOADER device"
            Don't I need to choose img files from the top menu secntion ?
            Just click lower format and than run ?

            I just did it , I get loading screen animation of green light and it said "HPH Nagrace" and than I can choose 3 launchers or SPMC. the thing is that when I chose the 1st launcher everything was very big for the screen... couldnt see the right side of the launcher , only the first 2 tiles of each row

              I've done this , Now when I check System Update it says my device runs firmware "1.4.4" and the Product Model "Nexus 5"

              Is this your rom ?!

              I've downloaded your zip , un packaged it , rand Android Tool , clicked format and run.

                Also helps with 1080p Youtube playback.
                Don't mind the v1.4.4 since it's a file in the boot.img that displays firmware version and is not accurate.
                I used the boot.img from v1.4.4 firmware but it's identical to the v1.4.5 firmware one and didn't want to re-create all my tweaks again. The system files and rest of the ROM is new and different than the v1.4.5 firmware. The v1.4.5 firmware maybe has 2 or 3 small things that my ROM doesn't have but it's not noticeable.

                If you use the SPMC I modified or normal SPMC you can also use
                advancedsettings.xml file to cache to RAM and increase the cache size to help with high bitrate video streaming.

                Kodi/SMPC's default cache is 20MB for streaming content.
                If you stream high bitrate content(HD), the cache is not enough.
                Try using an advancedsetting.xml file for Kodi/SPMC and set cache to 100 or 200MB in RAM.
                RAM is faster than EMMC/NAND and will stutter less or not at all.
                If set to 200MB, it will actually use 3 times that eg. 600MB RAM.

                Here is an example of
                advancedsettings.xml
                Place in Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/ or /sdcard/Android/data/com.semperpax.spmc/files/.xbmc/userdata if using SPMC
                Must be rooted(Run TR app) and enable 'show hidden files'. Use ES File Explorer, it works great.

                Code:
                <advancedsettings>
                  <network>
                    <buffermode>1</buffermode>
                    <cachemembuffersize>157286400</cachemembuffersize>
                    <readbufferfactor>2</readbufferfactor>
                  </network>
                </advancedsettings>

                It will cache in RAM which is faster than EMMC/NAND, better on R89 & Tronsmart devices that have slow EMMC/NAND.
                It will cache 150MB and use about 400-450MB of RAM.
                Will also help to not add extra wear & tear on your Samsung EMMC chip.
                Well , I've used the SPMC that was in that version and no audio at all...
                Settings set to HDMI Bitstream , in SPMC I've turned it on ... No Audio at all....

                What can I do ?

                    Thx for the reply , I use only HDMI and not spdif because I have hdmi splitter .
                    Its funny that hph has problem with passthrought while my minix for example works fine .
                    I think the problem is in the rom itself, no ?

                        I think it's only a small issue and will get fixed soon in new firmware.
                        Just remember October last year 4k videos was not even possible in XBMC on RK3288 devices and lots of features has been added since then.
                        When Lollipop firmware comes out, it's going to have lots more fixes.
                        I'll forward the passthrough issue on and maybe hear something next week if Rockchip is working on a fix.
                        Have you also tried the build-in video player or MXPlayer with the DTS codec?
                        I've just did couple of testings and noticed 2 things :

                        1. When HDMI bitstream is chosen , I can still click the VOL button on the airmouse and kodi shows the volume increase (while it suppose to say that it can't change volume in kodi while passthrough is working)

                        2. No Audio at all is coming from the HPH using your version , even youtube don't make a sound.

                        I've installed back 1.4.5 Nagrace official and now I have back audio in HDMI but its stereo only

                          I also have sound issues in this rom, where audio stream skips for half a second every x minutes. I'll try flashing newest kernel from HPH firmware.

                            Only when I've installed back the original 1.4.5 HPH I got stereo audio back (but still no 5.1 over HDMI no matter how I try)

                            Burs - Do you use SPDIF or HDMI ?

                              On mo's rom, yes. I still have issues when I select HDMI, and SPDIF I cannot test. I'll report back after flashing HPH kernel.
