UG802 with Finless ROM 1.4 WIFI switch ON/OFF problem

    Hi to all,
I'm writing from Italy and bought the UG802 a few weeks ago and I have installed the Finless Rom 1.4 because the stock OS was terrible and not so stable.
I used the easy way (IMG+SD update) and everything went well, all application worked perfectly and video run smooth and in sincro.

I have modified the WIFI cable/antenna as in the Bob's video and gained a bit more signal froma my wifi router but, I still have a terrible problem, in the OPTION/WIFI tab, the wifi is alway's turned OFF, every time I have to turn it on but very often, too often, it turn OFF again by itself again and again.
Itried multiple reboot but often it remains OFF and I'm trying to figure out a way to keep stable and ON.

Every help is apreciated and I thank you all in advance for every possible effort in solving my problem.

Sorry for my engish but I did my best to explayn the problem.

i had this problem before, its that cheap usb plug adapter that comes with the ug802 , what i did is used an old usb adapter from an old cell phone, weird thing is that its rated at 1A and the stock one is a 2A, witch is weird cause it fixed my problem.. no more wifi signal drops or wifi not turning on.

oh an try finless 1.6 JB rom it might help to.

I had the same problems here, I attached a better power supply and problem vanished...

Also understand ANYTIME you turn on USB connection to PC, it turns off wifi! Sometimes you ave to reboot to turn it on again. My 1.6 ROM fixes this in a way. e.g. when you turn off USB to PC, you can turn on wifi without reboot.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion and the quick reply, I will immediatelly look for a better power suply, I hope this will solve once for all this weird problem...just one more question about the Ampere power that I should choose for the new power suply, the Ug802 uses a 2A but, as you say, the real quantity is aprox 1A because of the cheap material is made of, in this case, if I buy a 5 or 6 or 7 Ampere, it would be possible to attach to the Ug802 a NON powered Usb Hub????
In theory, giving more power to the Ug802, it should sustain also the Usb Hub more efficiently, is this possible?

            Hi Aleric
No you will not be able to source high currents from the USB port on the UG802, or any device for that matter. The USB 2.0 specification allows for up to 100mA when a device is first plugged in, then once enumerated (determine what sort of device has been attached by a bit of digital chat) up to 500mA can be supplied, but only if the device identifies itself as a high power device. So a 7 Amp supply will not let you source 6A from the USB port. There is current limiting circuitry in the USB port drivers to prevent damage to the host or Hub.

The probable reason for a 1A supply not being enough is that although the UG802 may draw up to 1A average, it probably draws spikes of current over 1A which cause the adapter voltage to drop below what is needed to keep the UG802 circuitry happy.

If the wall adapter is of the horrendous quality I have found on some of my tablets, then the output voltage is already falling as it approaches 1A, so increasing the possibility of unreliable operation of the TV stick.

Finding a good adapter is not easy, you need to test it, ideally have a look inside and know what to look for. My company makes the chips that go into the better wall chargers and adapters, the ones with known names on them -Nokia,Sony Ericson,RiM etc. If you can find a 1.5A to 2A USB one of those you will be OK, but of course they cost a lot more. In the UK we have Maplins, I have found there stuff good. Cheap **** stuff will lead to tears, I have had some of those as well and thrown away the innards and just used the case with my own PCB.
Use as short a cable as possible between adapter and TV Stick and a good quality one. USB cable is meant for data transfer, not power transfer, so has a comparitively high resistance leading to greater voltage fluctuations at the TV Stick even if the adapter is good.
            Good luck

              Hi again,
thanks for explaining once for all the problem regarding the power adapter, causing the wifi to turn off all the times, after a few day's of research and esperimentation, I have found a cheap and functional solution to the power suply problem, I bought a chinese (8,00€) 5V 2A power adapter created for the Galaxy Tab and I received enough electricity to mantain the Ug802 stable and in perfect shape. I tried all the possible softwares, every kind of movie and all the possible overheating conditions to test the power adapter and the results are great, I have never faced any kind of crash o freeze of the system and the wifi still stay's on for hours without any kind of signal loss, even moving the antenna the wifi still stay connected...this is great. I will send the image taken from the box of the power adapter if requested by users of this forum. Best regards and thanks again.
