Would this heatsink be up to the job or should I install a better one?
You should most definitely install a better one if you are going to overclock.

I think the heatsink is probably enough but improving the ventilation in the case would definitely help. I can't see the case to tell but usually they have very poor air flow. I live in Madrid and in summer most of the routers i have had start locking up. But with improved ventilation, often losing part of the case they are fine.

These things are designed to work without heatsinks but in well ventilated cases. So of you have a heatsink and a plenty of fresh air getting in they should over clock. Though heat isn't the only issue. Each chip is different.

This Is what I have done with my UG802
        Setup: 2dark kernel_1080_CPU1608_GPU466_RAM1120.img, Finless ROM 1.7

        It works real nice !
        I use SetCPU: 504Mhz min - 1608Mhz max @ "interactive" or "ondemand".
Using It at "performance" 1608Mhz with real heavy usage like PowerNZB downloading with 6Mbps and repairing and extracting 10GB+ files at the same time
It could still get a bit warm, but not badly warm I think
I can still hold my fingers to the heat sink

        Heat Sink (23mm x 23mm x 10mm), (RK3066 = 20x20mm)

Nice setup. You don't have to do the wireless mod?

Indeed very nice... I might copy your setup... do I Need thermal paste or sth else besides the heat sink?
What do you think about an active fan?

The heat sink has thermally conductive adhesive on the back

Iam not going to use an
                active fan for now
Maybe when the kernel and rom even get tweaked a bit more It could be necessary, but for now I think Its enough

Iam not running the UG802 constantly at 1608Mhz "performance"
So the RK3066 can cool down when Its l
                ess active

Awesome set up. Thanks for the link. Will be getting the same heatsink.

Those 2 chips to the right of the cpu, are those ram chips? Would they benefit with heatsinks as well?

edit: ok read the previous page that ram doesnt need heatsink

My MK802 IIIs with heatsink and fan.. Don't care about the screws.. Just an old fan from another project

Even at 1,4ghz, with darks new kernel, no heat
Problems.. Just power because u really need a good power adapter, otherwise you ll experience a lot of freezes

I know this is an older thread but just as a reminder/warning, if you are fitting your heat-sink with tie-wraps make sure they are not very tight, adjust them just enough to hold them. I bricked my MK808 when I over tighten the heat-sink and the chip probably broke.
