Nextbook 7 Premium TEST Full Root ROM by Finless Bob

OK to help out Doc I decided to have a go at making this ROM. It was very much like the Arnova ROMs so I did things exactly the same.

This is for the NextBook 7 Premium ONLY starting with serial number yf1011. I do not know if it works on serial numbers starting with other numbers!

This is what I would call a TEST ROM as I have no way to test it. Realize it may brick your Tablet!!!!
However since the vendor has stock ROMs available you can always restore using RKbatch tool.

I have not updated my READ ME.txt with instructions for how to put the Nextbook into recovery mode for flashing. So you need to know how to do this to flash my ROM. If the ROM works some help on my readme.txt on how to flash the Nextbook would be nice so please consider helping update the readme.

Because of the structure changes you MUST use the flash tool in this ROM kit (RK Androidtool 1.29). This also means you must get the drivers installed first. See the readme for that as it is the same process.

So here is what is in this ROM:
1) I took the stock ROM and converted system.img from a cramfs file system to an EXT3
2) I edited the init.rc file to reflect that /system is now mounted as EXT3
3) I turned on USB debugging and ADB interface by default
4) SU and Superuser.apk has been added and gived root access
5) /system is RW not RO so you should have full write to /system
6) I added space to /system to allow rooted apps to write there without running out of space
7) I updated the parameter file to give 1 gig of space for app installs.

Nothing else for TESTING. No Market pre-installed or anything like that. As a test I wanted to do minimal changes for now.
If this ROM works then I will update it to my 1.3 version adding Market, etc.

i just finished flashing my nextbook 7.worked like a charm.
the nextbook 7 only has one hard button,power.no hard volume buttons.
the procedure i used(for your readme file).
attach usb,and plug in power cable.
depress reset button(pinhole on back of unit).screen goes dark.
open device manager(i used windows 7),under other devices,shows up as unknown device.
choose update drivers,and direct to the folder containing the drivers in the download.
then just follow the instructions.
i've had this device since nov.,and did the half root with wendal's tools from slatedroid the day i got it.
checked things out with root explorer,and uninstalled slide me market(a system app)for good measure.
can't thank you enough.

My test ROM worked!

I am cooking up a new ROM now. DocHoppy will also be cooking his version up. He said to me, the more the ROMs available the better!
