UG007 artifacts, hardware or cable problem?

This is the most annoying problem I've had with the device. My initial thought was HDMI cable problem. I went and bought another HDMI port saver cable and the result is the same. Now I am thinking it's a hardware problem with the GPU. It's the same for factory firmware and the iMito 11/29 firmware.

I see you have a screenshot app running in the status bar. perhaps the app is causing the issues?

Your graphical artefacts are far too consistent for it to be a hardware issue.

Why would an app cause the issue? This happen with factory firmware and the iMito MX1 firmware and before any app were installed. Screenshot app is for capturing what's on the screen. The artifacts happen in game as well. I've tested different power adapters with same result.

Because afaik most screen shot apps use an overlay to capture the screen. Also like you said, you used the screen shot app to capture the graphical artefacts which seems to suggest that this issue is not hardware related. If it was hardware related causing the visual output to show the artefacts a screen shot would not be able to capture it.

To further clarify my point in the form of an analogy, if your lcd screen on your phone has ΒΌ dead pixels and you did a screen shot it would show as nothing being wrong.

Sent from my Galaxy S too!

I think it could still be a hardware issue. The screenshot means it's not the cable or the TV. But wouldn't the artifacts still show if the graphics processor was acting up? Kinda looks like it's overheating. That's how a computer's video card reacts when it's over heating. Does the unit feel warm? I have a UG007 and haven't noticed it warm to touch at all though.

The RK chip does get warm. My guess is something is wrong with the graphic processor too.
Here's the other two screenshots I didn't post here,

The grid like artifact isn't static. When you scroll the wallpaper, it moves with the wallpaper. It occur in settings too but it clear out.
