Help with flashing U30GT- H

I have tried to follow 900supersport process for updating the Rom/firmware.
Actually to be more precise I am assisting a friend with this process(ie he has the Tablet)
unfortunately he is in another city...so I am doing all via Skype...

We are having difficulty
....getting the tablet into Flash mode

and the Dell laptop that the Cube update kit is sitting on(and will be used for deleting and updating the Rom)
... to see the Cube with the correct USB info

I am wondering if the existing version of firmware is hindering the process.

We want to get rid of the Chinese language stuff ,root the tablet and get the latest version of firmware
..that is what 900supersports package does?

So attached is the screenshot of Cube U30GT-H os/firmware area

Anyone able to help?

Firmware version should not make any difference.

To enter flash mode, (cube cannot be on power for this )
Press and hold power for 10 seconds, this should force the cube off
Press and hold vol +
Press and hold power for 4 seconds
Release vol +
The screen should remain black but you should be in flash mode.
Connect the USB cable to the PC and it should be detected
Install drivers and flash

We have tried this process...
and on two occasions it came up with an Android symbol lying on its side on the screen

and when plugged into the Dell laptop
it loads a Device driver and
it shows under Device manager as...
Android phone...and a sub level of Android ADB interface

on two other tries it didnt do anything...and didnt show up on the dell laptop at all
ie it obviously didnt go into any mode

its so frustrating not being able to get it into Flash mode
and without that obviously nothing else can proceed

Any advice or tips?

The android on it's side is recovery, I find that more difficult to get into,. I suspect that you need to shorten the time you hold power and vol+.

Flash mode reports differently on USB than normal so with the tablet on connect up, the PC should see it, do you have these drivers connected?

A trick I've used a few times is as follows
With the tab powered off connect to the PC
Start my flash tool
One of the buttons is something like reboot to flash (sorry away from the PC and cannot remember), have the mouse over this.
Start the tab
During start up I'm hoping that the tab will be detected and the 'reboot' button becomes active, click on it and hopefully the tab will be forced into flash mode.
The tab should be detected so install drivers and flash.

Okay ..gotya on the first point
unfortunately I rely on my friends touch in this case...will try shorter times

the only mode we can get the tablet to be seen in is regular storage USB mode
...obviously not in Flash mode

The last method..ie the trick ..we will give that a try sometime this week
when my friend has some time to try it!
