Emerson EM543 - Factory ROM now available

I've uploaded a recreation of the ROM that was on the EM543 when it was shipped from the factory. You can get it (EM543-factory.zip) here: https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B3...dzdlk4d0U/edit

Use this if your touchscreen no longer works after flashing another ROM.

!! WARNING !!
Do not apply the firmware update available on Southern Telecom's website to your tablet (EM543_Firmware_4.0v1.zip). Also, do not use my ROM for the Polaroid PMID4311. Both are incompatible with your touchscreen's hardware and will leave it non-functional.

For the record...

The bootloader, boot, system, and recovery partitions in this LiveSuite image were pulled from a newly purchased EM543 and integrated into an existing LiveSuite setup based on S.T.'s (ill-fated) firmware update for the 543.

After creating the image, I flashed my EM543 to confirm that it worked. I then flashed the tablet with my Polaroid 4311 CM10 ROM, knowing that this would render the touchscreen non-functional. Finally, I flashed it again using this new image. As expected, the tablet was fully functional and back to its original out-of-the box state.

Everything was working fine, I shutdown it. When I powered it on, touchscreen not working anymore.

I flashed the firmware from southern telecom website but it seems it was older than mine.

Still no touchscreen (it's a hotatouch one from China).

EDIT: confirm it, you're a god! touchscreen is working! I will not have to go back in the USA to exchange the tablet!

I got an email from ST asking me to redownload the firmware because they changed it.

It looks like the same name:

Edit: They have not updated the file (yet). The one I just downloaded is identical to the one I got a few weeks ago.

As you say its a Wrong Firmware we request you to update your Tablet Firmware again. Please go with through the below link and you should not have this issue if you still have the same issue we will take your tablet for Repair. and also we will update the same information to our higher Dept and make sure we fix it as soon as possible.

By the way, @dolorespark I would have returned my PMID4311 if you had not done your magic with it. I am giving it to my Dad (PopPop) for Christmas so he can skype with my son, his grandson.

can you guys still access the Emerson support pages? A few weeks ago I noticed that after the home page when you click on Emerson they removed the tablet option. You could still get at it if you knew the url.

is this just me? I've tried on multiple machines.

i wonder why its 512 meg when the others are like 256 or 280?

after opening - they included 2 different images they have different touchscreen drivers. So even in the em543 alone there must be a few revisions or they made a few out of the older design...

At least the firmware will not brick the tablet of people trying it, like when it happened to me...

FYI - the V2 image does not work with the em543's that I took the pictures of so I bet they need the v3 (Just the touchscreen, hooked up a mouse then reflashed)

Confirming that V3 DOES work with the version I have. Appears to be pretty much the same otherwise, no obvious changes.
