Polaroid P700 full root ROM by Finless - No Market pre-installed

    Polaroid P700 full root ROM by Finless - No Market pre-installed

    OK folks I made GREAT progress on this ROM.

    A SPECIAL thanks goes out to ChiDave09 for helping me!

    Let me just say this... there is NO expert! Not every ROM is the same! So us sharing together here makes it happen. Well it just happened for you Polaroid guys!

    Details:

    Because of the structural changes you MUST use the flash tool in this ROM kit (RK Androidtool 1.29). This also means you must get the drivers installed first. See the readme for that as it is the same process.

    So here is what is in this ROM:
    1) I took the stock ROM and converted system.img from a cramfs file system to an EXT3
    2) I edited the init.rc file to reflect that /system is now mounted as EXT3
    3) I turned on USB debugging and ADB interface by default
    4) SU and Superuser.apk has been added and gived root access
    5) /system is RW not RO so you should have full write to /system
    6) I added space to /system to allow rooted apps to write there without running out of space


    Nothing else. No Market pre-installed or anything like that. Based on working with the nextbook guys I think I can give you a ROM with Market. So stay tuned for that!

    Here is the ROM. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK:

    Polaroid PMID700 full Root works perfect !

    Flashed the Polaroid v1.2 by Finless to my Polaroid tablet. Works perfectly! It seems more responsive and have not had any crashes. I swear the screen is sharper now too. Thank you Finless, Chidave, XDA, and Freaktab and all the others that helped!

    I also have Google Talk and Market working! I used Gapps from here : http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip

      Stay tuned... I am cooking now and testing. I will have a new ROM with full Market 3.4.4 installed. And this is not side loaded. Calendar and contacts sync will work as well as other google apps you usually do not get with side loaded ROMs.

      Give me about an hour!

        noob question

        ok so following the read me in this rom im trying to install the RK29 drivers but my computer keeps reading pmid700 drivers im not sure how to proceed from here im not a idiot at computers but try to uninstall the drivers in device manger it still continues to pull these driver

              That ROM is an old test ROM and the first ROM I did for the Ptab700.

                Not working

                Thanks, Bob. I appreciate the prompt reply to the latest link. It's still not working on my tablet. I've tried multiple things to get the drivers loaded. I cannot boot the unit into recovery mode. I've tried the instructions in the thread and in the readme.txt file in the DL, but everytime I try to change the driver, the device is already recognized in devices. I've tried to uninstall the devices and add them back in, but they automatically grab the original drivers. Holding the reset button in while having it connect via usb to to PC simply rolls it back to the original drivers. When I try holding the Volume Up or Menu button while plugging the USB cable in create a series of quick beeps, but nothing else happens. If I hold either of those keys in while pressing the Reset button, the unit will power down, but never powers back up.

                I gotta be missing something really simple.

                  Please post this question in the Nextbook support forum and the guys there I am sure will help you.

                      Ooops, sorry.... Post it in the Polaroid support forum. Again even though I can root these ROMs, I do not have one and thus do not fully know how to get them in flash mode. In my ReadME was a user contributed process but I do not know how detailed it is.
