    Polaroid P700 1.2 and 1.3 ROMs by Finless

    OK so I have made 2 ROMs now. One that has full root and other optimizations and the other is the same except the full Market is installed. Big thanks to Chidave09 for helping me crack this nut... It was not easy!

    Go to my ROM kitchen to get them:

    ROM 1.2 no Market go here:

    ROM 1.3 with full Market 3.4.4 go here:

    Enjoy,
    Bob

    "Oprosti im, jer ne znaju što čine"
    "Forgive them as they know not what they do"

    Anyone try this new ROM with Market yet?

    I am on pins and needles hoping to hear an answer on how well it works?

    Thanks,
    Bob

      downloading now!

      Gapps works! Just one thing though, only a few apps appear and none show in the "my apps" section. I read about this somewhere last night, but I forgot where. Time to search through my history!

      Great work!

      Fixed missing app issue by going to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, Click the "All" tab, scroll to market, select it then select "Clear data". Clicking "clear cache" did not help.

      Also, I added the following lines to build.prop in order to make even more apps show

      Code:
      # FAKE_MARKET
      #
      ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=310120
      ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha=Sprint

      ro.gsm.sim.operator.numeric=310120
      ro.gsm.operator.numeric=310120
      ro.gsm.sim.operator.iso-country=us
      ro.gsm.operator.iso-country=us
      ro.gsm.sim.operator.alpha=Sprint
      ro.gsm.operator.alpha=Sprint

        Please read my README on Google apps in the post or the README.txt in my ROM. I talk about sometimes having an issue with limited apps. YES sometimes you can do what you did but my way works ALL THE TIME!

        Anyway glad you got it worked out.

        Adding what you did to build.prop is cool.. But realize doing that means you could get apps that screw up your system! I played a bit with this before and even got a titatnium backup versions that crashed my system and I had to reflash. It did not even list the good apps and I could not tell! So getting a bunch of more listed apps is cool but realize some may be not what is expected

        I have worked a lot with this myself which is why I found a Market 3.4.4 package that and works on tabs. Not filtering for phones could mean trouble for some people. Just letting you know my working experience here. Having more show up does not mean that is a good thing

        A prime example.... Editing build.prop may allow you to download and install google earth right? Will it can totally screw up your system! I have a google earth that will work on tabs properly. I will post it later but those edits wont give you a good one even though it will allow the install.

        I know this... Google is working on filtering for tablets. It is screwed up right now but I know they are working on it long term. You may now notice HD versions of apps? Those are for larger screens like Tabs not smaller phones! This is going to be a BIG changing environment for Google over this year. Stay tuned

          Maybe your readme is where I got that from! Anyhow, I only changed the build.prop to add sprint as a carrier, I thought about changing the device, but figured it may cause problems like you explained

            Well not trying to beat you up but just pointing out what it can do... We already have noobs loading apps that cause issues by replacing critical files. This is the problem with full root when someone does not know what they are getting having full root! It's a double edged sword. I myself have totally screwed up a good working Tab by loading apps that take advantage of having root!

            A prime example. Go load Chain DD 3D drivers. YOU WILL have to reflash

            A non-rooted Tab would never have to do that. So since my first root, I get n00bs complaining that this broke or that broke and now is not stable when in fact they installed an APP that replaced files that normally would not have been and now they are unstable. Again root is a double edged sword

                Ah crap... I figured it might work but I guess not! I added it just to see.....

                Sorry about that. Because you have ROOT now, you can remove it. Applibs is BS anyway in my opinion. Its a way for cheap tablet makers to have a apps location when they do not want to get approved in the Google Market. I assumed it would work on any Tab... I guess I was wrong.

                Thanks Dave for letting me know. Next ROM I do I will remove that BS.

                  That's cool, I checked it out cause I never used it before and saw that, so I figured I would let you know. Like you said though, I can remove it so it is not a big deal at all.

                  On a side note, I got a guy from xda that wants to try to play with the kernel now. Don't know if you are interested or have any knowledge of that type of thing. I know the source is needed, but I am not sure if the source is the same/similar for all rk29 devices

                    The new rom with market (v1.3) worked great on my PTAB7200.
                    Thanks so much!

                    finless, do you plan on refining and improving these roms?

                    I'd love to see one with all bloatware removed.

                      I can remove anything you guys want removed!

                      Since I cant really see whats installed as when I boot this on my Arnova the screen does not work. If you make a list of what you want removed, I can do that.

                        I would make a list for you, but I kinda already removed everything. Couldn't you just mount your system.img and look around for the bloatware? Also, I was wondering, could I mount the system.img as root, make whatever changes I wanted, then umount and flash or are there other things like boot.img that needs to be modified first? I know that is a pretty noob question, but I just wanna make sure.

                          As long ss you do not change the size of /system you can flash it all by itself without boot.img.
                          So yes you can make all kinds of changes and just flash system.img

                          This is how I inject the Market and test.
                          Mount system.img, copy over files, set permissions, unmount, and flash it!
