    Mk808 Mx1 and uhost2 quick questions

    Hi!

Been browsing the forums and reading up on android sticks a while now. ( great forum btw! )

I´ve read that the micro usb on the MX1 is a hit and miss that they can break off, is it the same for the Uhost2 that also powers through micro USB? From what i understand the MK808 dont have this problem.

Heat build up in the uhost2 and MK808 is there any problems there, from what i understand the MK808 got heatsinks and what i´ve read some people still have "hot" units while some a cool...

Reccomended to power theese units is 5v 2A. Can a charger that have 5V and 2.1A work? or does the extra 0.1A damage the unit?

    Best regards!

With standard power supply the voltage is fixed and the current will vary depending upon load. In other words the device will operate at 5volts and 0.1 amp difference do not matter for usb devices. More amps you have, the more devices you can power.

      Hi,

Thx for answer! Oh so the Ampage isnt really a deciding factor? I mean i understand that every electronice needs a minimum to function, but a 5V 10A whould work to ( in theory) its the voltage that gotta be precis?

Yes, 5volts and 10amps would work, but the power supply would be a bit large, most likely much larger than your mini android tv device.

Yes, 5Volts is the important factor. There have been a lot of posting about mini android tv devices (in my case about the MK808) requiring 2Amps to operate at their best.

well today i learned something =)
Thanks nick111 for clearing that up for me!

Sidenote then, MK808 or uhost2? I like the idea that the uhost2 got a standard HDMI port but it seems the MK808 got a bigger following and better buildquality to the unit?

The MK808 has more online user and support, but there is a known wifi issue so I use a usb to rj45 adapter (which i perfer).
The MK808 is supplied with a cable for the smaller hdmi connection, but you can get longer ones from **** at very little cost (long wait time from China).

I've seen a video review of the uhost2 which has a building receive for the remote, but if you wait a while techology will more on, already there is a four core device on the market.

It is always better to get the device with most support IMHO.

Got a nice deal on the mx1 so i´ve been playing around with that today, newly flashed with finless rom.
Great device! ( if the ports wont hassle me in the future )

I was planing on giving my dad a android stick, and as you said the more users there are the more support there will be for the product so thats probably the best buy. Or ill just wait and get myself a four core device in a bit and hand me down the mx1 to him

Anyway, thanks for all the answers, the Volt / amp answers were really usefull!
