How can I get sleep mode back or some type of screensaver in Finless ROM 1.7

So Im loving Finless Rom but Im missing (apart from NFS support) having the screen go dark when there is no activity. I use the stick for my room tv and I dont like having the tv on at full light during the whole night. Its wasteful but specially the light bothers me when sleeping or trying to sleep.

Ive tried looking for an app but since Android does this automatically I have not been able to find one. So how can I get back sleep mode support or at least some type of screensaver where I can set up a dark screensaver? Thanks.

First off what do you mean get it back? It was never there that I can recall!

However it is disabled in build.prop and you can turn it on.
Open build.prop and you will find this line

ro.rk.screenoff_time=-1

Now you can try putting a # in front of that line and see if settings will allow you to change the time. If not then edit the value. As I recall the value is in 1000's of a second. so a 3 second time out would be 3000. Again this is what I recall back when I played with this.

However PLEASE stay tuned on this! Freaktab APP developer petrus is making a screen off timer APP. This will allow you to set not only a countdown timer but a time of day to turn on or off the HDMI ouput. So please stay tuned for that!

Thanks Finless. The application sounds exactly what I need. Tell him that if he needs beta testers Im available. Im just starting to get into Android development myself.

I edited out the line and rebooted but I dont see any extra options in settings. I guess I will need to change it to some specific value, but Im just going to keep like this to see what happens. One last thing, do you know if the system detects there is video playing and does not activate sleep mode?

EDIT: Finless can you tell me also how to get rid completely of the bottom bar (I have other ways of accessing the same functionality). Right now I use MX Video Player to achieve the same effect every time I reboot but it would be great to have it done right and by default.

Just rename /system/app/systemUI.apk to systemUI.aps and reboot. Bottom status bar will be gone forever.

Let me ask Petrus if it is OK to have you help beta test the app.

Cool. I have already installed the application and will report back.

About the other two things:

Renaming systemUI.apk does indeed get rid of the bottom bar but it also removes the wall paper. It leaves a black background. No other posibility?

I tried changing the value of ro.rk.screenoff_time but nothing worked. I tried 30000 to get 5 minutes and it never went off, I changed to 30 in case it was not miliseconds and again never went off.
