    Next book 9 help

I recently purchased my next book 9 and like it so far. I put a JB ROM on it using the newton kernel. Now I have a few problems. My battery meter doesn't work and the fix for it doesn't work for me. I also have no audio, when I plug in ear buds the sound comes out the speaker on the tab. I like this ROM and can live without the battery meter but need sound. I have tried to put it back to stock and that doesn't fix either problem. Any ideas?

I've been running OMA's JB rom on the Newton kernel for a while now, and aside from a new occasional glitch when connecting or disconnecting the charger, it's been running better than stock. No issues like those you described.

If I were to guess, something may not have gone as planned during installation. I would start over and re-flash the unit. Then, install the proper zip files from your SD card on the very first boot. There is a format NAND script at the bottom of OMA's post of the JB files at XDA. Execute this one first. Then execute modell fix for Newton, and then the battery fix from the JB on NB9 thread here (two fixes are mentioned, but the second one is the proper one). Select the boot option from the menu and wait for it to do it's thing.

If that doesn't work, and you still have the same issues, I would suspect some issue with the hardware, perhaps a revision in the platform somewhere along the way.

By second one, Silicon Orb means Oma_JB_v1.2_akkufix_2.zip.

Oma_JB_v1.2_akkufix.zip is the first one, and it will either not work or make the tablet not boot.
