I have two different sticks that I installed xbmc on. I always stress test it with a two gig .mkv file to see how it handles.
My final thoughts of xbmc for android are:

    1) it is not ready as a full fledged media center for any android device.
    2) great as a upnp server.

I use xbmc as a upnp server. 2 tb HDD with all my media on it. Set up your xbmc to share files via upnp. Install bubbleupnp on your android mobile device or tablet. (Make sure your on the same LAN) turn on xbmc on the mini pc stick, turn on bubbleupnp on your mobile device or tablet. On the far right of bubbleupnp shouldd say devices. Click on it. Now set your xbmc as library and renderer as ehomemediacenter. now select library and look for the media that you would like to play.

Doing things this way allows xbmc to retreave all the posters for your media. BubbleUPNP now displayes all of the posters so you see the cover of the movie if you dont remember the name of the movie listed. ehomemediacenter is the native dnla/upnp player on your mini pc stick, it plays all types of files formats fluidly from big mkv files to your light wieght mp4 with no problems. except if you got alot of things running on your network. Torrent client ect......

If you need me to go in to more detail let me know. but i found this is the best way to use XBMC.
Having BubbleUPNP on your mobile device or on your tablet makes it a greate remote. just remember all your devices must be on the same Local Area Network !!!!

    Hope this solves your problem.

      Hi,

I have a 2x 2TB NAS (Raid) and stream via SMB to XBMC.
Remote controlled with Android phone and Yatse (free in market).
Works perfect (I'm NOT using 1080p/i)

Now share your Library via UPNP. install the Bubbleupnp
app on your remote control device and use ehomemediacenter as the player.
select one of the larger video file sizes you have and play it.
that way we can correct what I have mentioned above.

        Thanx!

          Hi,

appreciate your ideas but as I wrote FOR ME it is working perfect with my current set up.

If I would change from SMB to UPNP I would have to re-scrape the whole library which counts
more than 2100 movies and took me quite some time to set up as it is.

Not at all, useing your xbmc as the upnp server takes just a flip of a switch in the settings menue. what you have alrady scraped is what you need to show the poster on your android device that you will be installing BubbleUPNP.

Bubbleupnp now displays your xbmc library in the palm of your hand and then sends the video that you select to any DNLA/UPNP complient device on your network, XBOX360, PS3, Windows media player, ect ect ect.

you wont lose or have to rescrape anything.

XBMC is in RC3 and is not final. I have my library in different types of formats and XBMC cant play them all fluidly. the work around allows you to see your scraped library with posters and allows you to send it to any player in the house.

                Hi,

beside the MK808 I'm using XBMC and the database on 2 PC's.
So changing to UPNP will be a lot of work.
                Why should I?

                Peter

EDIT: Forgot, Poster I have also in Yatse also Plot and Actor

Re read my posts, I understand scraping a library of your size is a pain. you should read up on DNLA and UPNP. XBMC has the option to take a library that is already scraped and share it to DNLA/UPNP devices. which means you dont need to scrape all of your devices libraries every time you add a new movie. SMB scraping is such a crude way of sharing a library.

I'll make a video and post it on youtube so that you can see.

                    Hi,
to add/change UPNP I have to specify a new source which implies new scraping afaik.
I know that I don't have to rescrape the whole library from scratch when adding a few new movies.

Anyhow, we are in a circle discussion

                    I'm happy so do you.

                    Cheers

                    Peter

EDIT: "XBMC has the option to take a library that is already scraped and share it to DNLA/UPNP" OK, maybe I havn't checked that (but why should I, as I wrote I'm happy)
After removing the RC11 receiver with a USB hub away from the stick my WLAN is solid like a rock and XBMC working without interrupts.

                      XBMC work around

Just like most of you, I have a problem with XBMC for android. Most of the problem begins with, XBMC is in its RC3.
We have all love xbmc for its feature rich user interface for our desktop computers and laptops that can handle cpu load of video rendering and now we want it on our Tablets and Mini PC Sticks. That just didn't work for me.

So here is what I did...

1)Downloaded and installed TheMovieRenamer for pc
this takes the movies you have and compares them to the IMDB and TheTVdatabase. Renames them and puts them in a folder of your choice, some set up is required.

                      2) After they are renamed and in the correct folder I used the Universal Scraper from XBMC to scrape the movie, Keep in mind that in the settings of the Universal scraper you must point all scraping features to the IMDB to properly download all of the correct movie info.
I use The TVDB to scrape for TV shows.

                      3) After your library is scraped goto Services, then UPNP and select Share Video and Music Libraries through UPNP and Announce library updates through upnp.

                      4) Go to your android phone or tablet (with Wifi and log in to your network) download Bubbleupnp from google play store.

                      5) After the download is complete open the app, skip the introductions and select devices. on the right hand side you will see all of the upnp servers on your network and on the left you will see all of the upnp compliant players/renderers. select the library you want to play from and the player you want to play to. now select library and look for the movie you want to play. select it and your done.
(on both my mini pc sticks it the default upnp player is ehomemediaplayer. this player can play almost anything in any format no matter what the size. their is some buffering but that is only at the begining.)

Hope this works for you as good as it works for me.

NOTE: yes xbmc, bubbleupnp and ehomemediacenter can be on the same device.

if you dont have a pc as the server xbmc can be put on your mini pc stick as a server left running in the background. with bubbleupnp as your DNLA/UPNP remote control on your android mobile device/ tablet. and ehomemediacenter as the player.
like i said xbmc does not handle all video formats that i have in my library and this is why I view my library and play my videos this way!

                      The Choice is yours.

i have xbmc on everything i own you can backup all video info and export ect or you can copy userdata folder over to different devices so you dont have to rescrape anything crooked8s also allows you to transfer all settings skins addond skin customiztion ect so theres no need to use a upnp player in place of xbmc on android
