Yuandao N101T no longer charges battery...
Hey guys, I am running the Finless CFW v1.8 on my Yuandao N101T, and have been loving it. Now, as of a couple of days ago, my tablet no longer charges. I tested the power adapter with a multimeter, and it puts out 5 volts. The plug-in is kinda loose, but always has been, and I just make sure it is showing charging, and don't disturb it until it is charged. I downloaded a couple of battery monitors (Go Battery, and Battery Indicator) and they both say the battery health is good, and it is charging, but the battery level gauge just keeps dropping, even though it says it is charging. I have tried everything I can think of, even re-flashed the ROM, with no success. I don't know what to try next.

When you plug in the charger does the battery icon show a lightening bolt on it?
If so then the tablet's OS thinks it is charging.

OK so before we think there is a battery problem. These charges are CHEAP and I mean CHEAP! I had to get a new one myself. Just because you read 5V does not mean under load (charging somehting) that it still outputs 5V. So I suggest getting another 5V charger rated at at least 2 amps or 2000mv and try it.

I will try and find a charger... that is a tiny little plug in, I hope it is available locally. Better a charger than a battery though. I thought maybe I should try a new charger, but figured I should check to make sure this wasn't a known bug of some sort. After I try another charger, I will let you know how it went.Larry CZ

I would buy a charger and not worry about the plug. Cut the plug off your old one and cut whatever plug off your new one. Then just connect up the original plug minding polarity! It's only 2 wires and you can twist connect them if you do not know how to solder.

Yeah.......I've seen these cheap ar$e switchmodes do some weird stuff, injecting HF into things that don't like it.

Bob, you were right as usual!
OK! The solution to my charging problem was indeed the charger itself.
I dug through my boxes of stuff I should have thrown away years ago, and found an old charger from a defunct print server that was 5 volts, 2.5 amps. The end was wrong, so I found a replaceable tip from Radio Shack for one of their universal chargers (the Yuandao takes an "A" tip), as well as a short pigtail with the correct receptacle for the tip. The pigtail was actually $4.99, and they gave me a tip of my choice with it, so not too bad price wise. I wanted to try a different tip, as the one that came with the tablet fit so poorly you had to hold your tongue just right to get it to make proper contact. I wired the new pigtail and tip together with the used charger, carefully checking polarity, as the tip is reversible, which also changes polarity. If anyone else does this, I suggest marking the tip-to-receptacle junction with a marker so if it should come unplugged you don't have to figure out which way it went on again.
As soon as I plugged it in I knew we had found the culprit. The tablet now charges normally again, and the percentage started climbing right away. Have used it a couple of days now, and all works great.
As a side note, the new tip fits much better... BUT... it is also has a shorter actual tip (the part that plugs into the jack). The new setup has a right angle immediately after the plug, which is a snug fit against the p/u case I have it in, so it is easier to accidentally unplug it than the stock one. Out of the two evils, I prefer the new setup, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. The charger I found weighs about three times what the stock one did, and I suspect will last much longer, but if anyone finds a quality charger with a tip that actually fits correctly, I would like to know about it.
Thanks Bob, for pointing me in the correct direction. You Rock !

Should the tablet be unplugged from the charger once it is charged?
I am curious what the correct thinking is on this... should the tablet be unplugged from the charger once it is charged? Is it OK to leave the tablet plugged in continually if you're not using it, (or, even if you are using it for that matter) or is it better to unplug it once charged. Inquiring minds want to know.Larry CZ

Also.. there is a bug in my ROM and ther stock ROM. If you had the unit ON and unplugged the charger and powered it down. The next power up it might complain the battery is dead and want to shut down. JUST HOLD the power button and force the shut down. On next boot, it will read the battery stats correctly. This has plauged me for a while and is a bug.
I have yet to try the latest Yuandao ROM because I have my tablet all setup the way I like it. So it's not so easy for me now to just erase the sucker!
I am making ROMs daily for people and have lost focus on this Tablet. But trust I will do something soon with the new ROM because I have this tablet and it is my main GO TO tablet.
So just stay tuned... I will work on some of this BS battery crap!
