TV DEVICE IDENTIFICATION Tread - the versions of what!

OK folks, I am starting this thread to not only help me but help others.

I am getting totally lost with all the different versions of devices. Example, MK808, MK808B, MK808 V2, MK808 clone V whatever! MK802-3, MK802-3S.. UG802 and all it's recent versions!

Even though I make ROMs for many of these I do not own them So I cannot see all the differences myself.

You all have to admit... This is getting crazy don't you thnk?

So this thread is to ask people to please post what they have (model and known version of it), what ROM works, and if they took it a part PLEASE POST PICTURES!

Trust me.. we will all need this info very soon!

    Thanks for your contributions,
    Bob

    Hey Bob,

    Mk809 4gb Justop rebranded.

I believe this is a Ug802 clone. The WiFi module seems to be RTL8188EUS.

Ug802 Finless 2dark 1.7 runs well with limited testing - WiFi working well.
Imito MX1 Finless 1.5 all working but no WiFi.
Another user reported that mk808 finless rom also booted but no WiFi.

The board has HTC-T002-V1 on the side.

Seems like these RK3066 are all the same thing, varying in WiFi modules used, OTG connections, storage capacity and Bluetooth. Could a universal RK3066 tv stick custom rom be a real possibility?

Please set me right if I am overlooking something that would make this unrealistic.

HI Folks, this is my first post here - Great job you're doing Finless!!

I just purchased an GT-S20G from 123inkcartridges.ca in Montreal, Canada.
It has all the specs of an MK808B so I took a chance.

It sells for $60 and ships free from Montreal (in Canada at least) but I found their model does not include the mini HDMI to standard HDMI adapter. The units on DX.com and other places include this cable. I guess there are some trade-offs between ordering from Montreal and getting it in 2 days for free vs ordering from Asia and waiting up to a month to get it.

The description on the 123ink website is wrong though - it says the device is 2GB DDR3 and 8GB Flash - It only has 1GB DDR3 and 8GB Flash - same as the MK808B.

When booting up, the about screen says it's an S20C model (not S20G) and has a kernel build string identical to another MK808B clone: " 308+ olsen V401j1 #25 SMP Preempt Sat Nov2412:51:50CST 2012"
When I asked the 123ink support about this, they said they call this an S20G "because of copyright issues". Interesting - Chinese worried about copyright yet selling these clones. (BTW - 123ink is based out of Asia with a warehouse and store in Montreal).

So I bit the bullet and opened the case and guess what?
It's identical to the MK808B right down to the silkscreened "MK808B" number on the PCB and the RK903 WiFi/BT module along with the 2 pogo pins to connect to the BT antenna.
The PCB is IDENTCAL to the photos on this site of the MK808B.

The unit also does 1080P and has Android 4.1.2 version installed.

One other item of note - there is a spot on the PCB right beside the TF slot for a switch.
Right now, the switch is missing and two pins are shorted together.
Has anyone seen one of these devices with a slide-switch beside the TF slot and if so, what is it used for?

        Cheers

IMITO MX1 from Vali on amazon ,Opened up again to take pictures and id chips for this thread

Ok here is the list of chips I could actually read the numbers on without a jewelers loop.

I will borrow a loop from a friend soon and get the others ....

              on the processor side
The processor which is a RK 3o66 BNCT 708 1242

two ddr3 memory chips Labeled 256x8 ddr3 wt sggd

a very small chip labeled T659102 A1 TI 271 AS62 G4 looks like a Texas instruments power management chip

A push button switch above the rk3066 chip

micro sd holder and all usb ports

              on the back side

Radio for wifi and bt is Mediatek on the left side beside the full usb port

antenna lead with peel and stick backing copper antenna on the end

a big chip labled PFBi5 AR 1240 NH4B with S logo inside a diamond shape

one ddr3 memory chip labeled 256x8 wt kigf and another labeled
              256x8 ddr3 wt fgrk

identifying marking on the pcb are QL2012.46 under the HDMI connector and T005-V2 along with 20121108 which I assume is the date of manufacture on a green pcb

reset button does not exist on either end so I assume the one on the side that was hidden inside the case might have that function have not tried it yet

I am wondering if the three through hole connector points can be used for a serial connection? to access udisk ?

geekbuying imito is here .... already found 3 major chip differences

will document the numbers in a little while when I have more time but just as a hint ....
build date on the clone 2012 11 08
build date on the IMITO 2012 11 21
Thirteen days difference and a huge difference in components and pcb schematic that tells the story pretty much .

rockchip processor numbers are NOT the same so I will be looking up just what the differences are the clone is BNCT708 1242
                  IMITO IS ANFB425 1251

ROCKCHIP logo is not the same on both either
On the Imito It is crisp and every letter is cleanly seperate from each other close together but none run together a clean sharp logo that stands out

On the clone they are thicker and run together in places and the ink/dye is a duller dirty color just looks clunky when compared side by side to the other

OH and the IMITO boot screen says IMITO at boot not R-BOX LMAO

Memory chips are much different and the large chip I have not figured out what it does yet is also different .... and that does not include the pcb color and layout is different in several smaller ways and that includes the basic circuit schematic and how traces are routed meaning resistors and smaller components are either in different locations or in a few cases I have found already not present at all which One in fact is a small ic that seems to go to the hdmi connector on the clone is missing on the Imito will watch the video and see if it is better on Imito since I have noticed the clone has some static and lines in video output with some apps .... different companies surface mount inductors are used on the clone and in fact on the clone one is a different value from the corresponding inductor on the Imito.

I will edit this post later with pics and chip ids

Every chip in the Imito is cleanly and clearly labeled where the clones chips markings are hazy and blurred at best even the 3066 chip a pretty clear indication of a knockoff and cheap production techniques at best and low standards of Q/C you will seldom see chips made by the same company that the markings are not consistent in regard to legibility unless they are rejects and even then not of this degree

Identified the nand flash chip on the geekbuying Imito mx1 thanks to the chips on it being of better quality it looks like and it is a made by hynix and I get conflicting reports on data sheets about the capacity, but it varies in favor of more rather than less and the two capacities listed are 8 GIG and OMG 64 GIG for the same chip id Im still searching on this and will contact hynix since they are a american based company. I have accounts with several major chip builders and may be able to get some info there as well ....

This is the large chip on the knock off clone from Vali on amazon that Is marked with a diamond shape with a s enclosed in it and the fact that the memory on the clone is mix and match composed of chips from 4 makers makes for some hardware compatability issues in itself ... I have learned the hard way when building my systems that mix and match memory modules will screw a really good system up major and can cause some really strange issues ....

cant find a thing on the differences in the 3066 chip yet but just like with any processor a different set of numbers means a difference in features with no doubt and it allways means preformance is going to be different again with no doubt .....

Geekbuying has impressed me so far on this I really appreciate components that all match up and are chosen with compatability in mind and not what on sale today and then thrown together at random

                      hi guys
                      Awesome work Mr finless!

I have a clone T002. Board has HTC T002-V0. A chip with tiny text looks like realtek - wifi maybe?? Bought while drunk off **** via temptop.com I would paste an image link but copy/paste doesnt seem to work on these forums in latest chrome. Rooted without too much bother. Flashed with ug802 1.7 (o/c kernels didnt work but standard ones okish) and just recently flashed 1.8 which seemed to flash cleaner as 1st flash it went into reboot loop even after erasing nand. Recovery or bootloader dont seem to work. Off button seems to be a restart button as it doesnt turn off. Play store colours a bit washed out. Have trouble getting streaming addons like 1channel to work in xbmc. Some 720p mkvs work ok over wifi but not all. Standard avi's seem to go ok. Wifi smb copying with stick < 1mtr away from router connected @ 150mbs, max file transfer speed 800kbs ave 350kbs
Just seems a bit sporadic sometimes it works ok, then others not so good. Some may be related to power supply, tried a 2a supply but that doesnt seem right for it. It says 1.5a on specs so maybe I need to try a 1.5a power eh!! :-)
Any other roms I could try on this one?? I cant even find the original one to download!

                        Great idea for thread!

                        I have a MK809ll bought from AndroidGadget.

It is currently working fine on Finless 1.7a (Imito MX1)

                        Details are:

Rockchip RK3066 ARM Cortex-A9 dual core processor
                        ARM Mali 400 graphics chip
                        1GB of RAM
                        8GB of storage
                        Wifi chip is Mediatek MT5931SA
                        BT chip is Mediatek MT6622N

                        No heatsink as standard.
Wifi antenna works well (best outside of the case).

                          flash file for S20G

I have the same unit purchased from 123ink. It's currently stuck at the splash screen when I try to boot it. Is there a rom that I can use to flash it? it's the model with Bluetooth and I definitely need the wifi to work.
