How to hide status bar permanently?

    Hi all,
I have MK802III with Finless ROM 1.7. Works really great, but I still miss function for automatically hide status bar. I have tried a lot of launchers with hide status bar support, but none of it works. The only way, how to do that is using Hide bar app http://ppareit.github.com/HideBar/, but after every boot I have to click to Hide bar widget. Hide bar app include function to hide after boot automatically, but do nothing. Have anyone any ideas, how to boot without status bar or hide it automatically after boot?

Since you are rooted running my ROM.... Go to google play store and get ES File manager
In setting for ES File manager enable root settings!

Then navigate to /system/app and rename systemui.apk to systemui.old
    reboot

It's now gone forever. To turn it back on, just rename it back.

"Pardonne-leur car ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font"
"Perdónalos porque no saben que lo que hacen"
"Oprosti im, jer ne znaju što čine"
"Forgive them as they know not what they do"

I tried this and ES Explorer kept on telling me Task Failed. Yes I did set root.

Then I tried through a terminal as follows.

        su -
        (granted root)
        cd /system/app
        mv System.apk System.old

Then I got a message saying denied in a ReadOnly file system.

        Any ideas?

Use ES explorer. Root explorer allows you to change the / and /system mounts to R/W

... Or just remount using the terminal (as root)

              Thanks for the pointers.

It took a little digging through the menu of ES Explorer but I eventually found where it lets you set the permissions.

Now the status bar is gone and XBMC is muuuuuuuch happier. (no pointer being offset.)

I never use the status bar anyway.
