Don't want to root your MK808B?

Don't want to root your MK808B? Too bad, because it's already rooted?

I ordered an MK808 from COZYSWAN, because I have an Amazon prime membership and got free 2-day shipping. When I hooked it up, I noticed that bluetooth was on, so I turned it off. Turns out that I was shipped the MK808B instead. Either they messed up, to my benefit or detriment is yet to be determined, or they ran out of the MK808 and "upgraded" me?

Anyway, I found that it was already rooted. Is this normal? I can just type "su root" at the shell in the terminal emulator app, and I'm root. I can remove the bloatware myself, shutdown, and reboot.

Yes, the latest releases of stock rom do have su binary.

I also noticed my 808B from DX was rooted right out of the box.

PC doesn't detect the MK808B though

I also got mine from the same vendor, looks like I am getting the same model MK808B too. But I am afraid that I will brick the stick down the road, so still decided to flash finless 1.6 rom. But my PC can't detect the device. The blue LED light is on, and I use a paper clip to push the reset button as well. I also used the OTG to USB cable provided to connect PC and the stick, and I also tried different computers to see if it's computer related. And of course I also tried all of the USB port available. I did all these to no avail. Anyone has the same issue? Please help...Thanks.

I actually do want to do so

Can anyone direct me to a tutorial on how to root my mk808b (I don't think mine is rooted, or I don't know how to check this - for instance I can't uninstall the applications that came with it)

I searched on the forum but couldn't find a tutorial on how to root your device (without installing a new firmware like Finless's) could anyone help me with this?

Get Root Checker and Uninstall Master to remove system apps.
