MK802 IIIS and tv usb port

    Hi,

i'm searching android tv stick which is working ok powered with tv usb port. So is MK802 IIIS really working ok with stock ROM from tv usb? I only use this to use web browsing with flash content and to watch videos so maybe i don't need to install custom rom. And if there is better choice then i would like to know because i use with wifi connection so that is quite important to work stable. Maybe MK808?

And another thing is that what happens to this device when i turn off (to standby) my tv. Does it go to some kind of sleep mode or what? And does it start again when i turn on tv?

    Thanks for answers!!

    Hello,

For Power Supply use not the TV it has not enough Power to Run the Stick right.
Because the TV USB Power can give you @max 500mA this is not enough, i have notice Freezing, Lags and Reboots.
I thinks this will be on all TV Sticks, take a USB Power Supply with 2 A.

When you turn of the TV, then the TV Stick will Shutdown. If you use external Power Supply the Stick will Stay until you turn it off.

    Kind Regards

    Neomode

Thats too bad I quess they advertise these sticks too optimistic. So nobody here is using any of these tv sticks with tv usb powered..? I don't want to leave the stick on all the time so it would be good if it shuts down with tv..

        Hi,

I am afraid to tell you that you will never be sure in advance if your key will be working on your tv set :-(

From the my own experience and from the numerous thread on this forum, it is obvious that:
        - you should need a power adapter with at least 1A
        - connecting the key on the TV USB port brings most of the time a lot of issues
        - some tv's are ok, some not ...

        From my own experience:
        - all my keys (MK802III and MK802IIIs (b) ) are working fine when connected to my Samsung LE26C450E1W ( http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/LE26C450E1WXXU). IT IS WORKING. But I will never guarantee you that the same setup would work for you. This TV set cost me 350€.
        - all my keys (MK802III and MK802IIIs (b) ) are NOT working on my super dooper SONY KDL TV. That one cost me more than 2.000€.

So my cheap TV is able to provide enough power through the USB port whereas my expensive TV doesn't.

I am using the stock rom and wifi is ok. The key is really close to the router: less than 2m!

When the key is connected to the USB port of the tv, you should take care of the following:
        - shutdown the key from Android. There is a nice button (MK802 IIIs: included in the stock rom) to do it. If you shutdown your tv without shutting down your key first, you could have issues to such an extent that the key won't reboot!!! So don't let the key switch off with the tv like you'd like to do.
        - when you switch the TV on, the key switches on automatically: this is really nice.

Thanks for the great answers! One more question then about sleep mode. Is there sleep mode in these sticks and can i set timeout for that? Like if i don't use it for 10 minutes it goes sleep mode or standby.

I am not aware of a sleep mode/standby mode.
