SD Card reader - possible hardware fault (arnova 9 g2)?

Every now and again my tablet wakes up from standby mode and states (in status bar at top of the screen) that my 8GB SD card was unexpectedly removed. It then remounts and scans media.
I have checked the SD card on my PC and it seems OK so I can only assume there's a hardware fault. Has anyone else experienced this?
This doesn't happen all the time and I can't find a pattern to recreate the message.

Many people including myself have encountered this. I think Arnova need to iron out some bugs in the firmware for this tablet, I could be wrong but it does sound like a firmware problem. This happened to me with original and custom firmware this is why I say this

thanks for the info. So maybe it's not a hardware fault? Surely this would be logged somewhereby the Os? Is there a system log on android? If so, how can you access it?

I do not believe this is a OS problem!!!! I think it is application related. The reason I say this is on a full flash of my ROM if I install nothing else I never have that happen.

So I think some app loads while it is in standby and causes a refresh of the SDCard. Remember some apps use data stored in folders on SDCard (not the actual app on sdcard but data)!!!!

I could be wrong but after flashing 100's of times I seem to have noticed this does not happen with no apps installed.

following on from http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ull=1#post2550 i've checked my sd card and it seems to be a class 6 8gb micro sd. it's a Nokia branded one but has worked fine. I raised a support ticket with arnova and they simply sent me an RMA to return / exchange the tablet. i'm loathed to do this as i'm not sure it will fix anything. I did try emailing them at the address on the RMA form - twice - but no reply as yet. not too impressed with customer service here in the uk. i'll try again but for the moment i'm doing without extra storage. keep you posted.

Arnova support email

Seems that the email address on the RMA form ([email protected]) has bounced. There's another one ([email protected]) which i've also tried but no reply from them after 2 emails. i don't want to call them on a premium rate number. does anyone know contact details for their technical support team(s)?

I really don't want to send back the tablet if there's little / no point

Have you tried my 1.4 ROM yet? SOme people that had the SDCard ejection problem have been reporting that it stopped doing that with my 1.4 ROM.

been running 1.4 rom for 2 days with SD card installed and no issues thus far. not too sure what you did but it's working a treat.

I actually think I solved this by accident. I "think" it's related to the ext3 or ext4 tune2fs when I set the check interval to 0 and cleaned the image so it was set to "checked". Special thanks to Steve for this tip! It was purely accidental but I believe it no longer causes the system to do a remount of everything.

Only other thing it was is maybe setting the WiFi scan interval to 300 instead of 15. This may have to do with screen sleep and shutting down WiFi in sleep causing a remount of partitions with sdcard being one of them!

Those 2 changes could be the only explaination as thats all that got changed in this ROM.

I can't thank you enough. shame arnovatech can't be bothered to sort this out - or even reply to my emails. there must be many users out there suffering and being ignored by the people who are making money out of this. maybe you could feed back some pointers to arnovatech - for a commission of course

I am not looking for money or a commision. I have a good job and not looking for that. Nice idea but not my thing. I am a hobbiest that likes doing this just to do it!

I know for fact Archos/Arnova company has already been to this forum and looked as well as arctablet.com (which I believe is in contact with Archos). So they know what I am doing and I bet they use my stuff in some way. Thats alright..... They can contact me at anytime and I will help them.
