    dvi to hdmi adapter

building a brand new computer when my taxes come in was trying to decide on a tv or computer monitor for my display (crt right now) iv read that tvs are not that great as pc monitors and that i should go with an actual pc monitor. my problem is none of the monitors im looking for have hdmi input i would like to be able to move the monitor into the bedroom to watch stuff on my mk808 (dont have a tv in there.)
would a hdmi to dvi adapter work i know audio wont no speakers but i have usb audio so thats fine

does anybody know if there are any tv tuners that have hdmi input?

    Re: dvi to hdmi adapter

I use a dvi-hdmi adapter that came with my nvidia video card. I just have it plugged into the back of monitor instead of the video card giving me a hdmi port, no audio for me, however I have read some newer monitors actually have audio passthrough. And yes, there are audio channels transmitted over SOME dvi connections. My HTPC's gefore G220 actually does audio over DVI to my TV. As far as picture quality, I would go for a true monitor all the way. I have found TVs are not as sharp, bad contract ratios, and bad saturation.
I got this on the first page of googling hdmi capture:

I bought an HDMI to DVI-D cable and a Male Mini HDMI to Female HDMI adapter from Amazon. It works perfect with my old Gateway FPD2185W 21" monitor

Get omegamoon's kernel for DVI 1080p support, get a usb sound card for 5-10$ online.

              MK808 - Ubuntu 12.10 home://io (Olegk0 3.0.8 Kernel)
