Ok i installed the first version of oficial firmware by geekbuying, that wasnt a rooted rom, and I install update.zip from original stock recovery. So you didn“t need root to install cwm recovery in your device.
In my case (mk808b)the only way to enter in recovery is pushing the reset button while you power on the device. The reboot apk by petrus need root. I restored the previus rom and everyting works well
SO NO NEED TO BE ROOTED TO INSTALL CWM RECOVERY.

Originally posted by leolas View PostThanks, really I dont know, i was allways root cause the first I did when I receive it was make me root. And finless roms are rooted too. To use reboot apk you need root, but i dont know if root is needed to install cwm, I will test it when I arrive home.
Daemonium, why can't you use external sd?, NTFS filesystem is not supported. Is it your sdcard filesystem?

Do I need root for installing CWM? You could mention the same in your post
cheers!
