Home button does nothing

After using modified stock roms for a while, my daughter's PMID705X tablet has stopped doing anything when you press the home button. It lights up, but does nothing in the main menu, any app, or any launcher. I can't seem to find anywhere to set what the home button does in the menu. My son has the exact same tablet with the exact same rom and setup, and his works fine. It's one of those on screen home buttons too. I searched the web and tried the settings in the launchers. That didn't help.

Any ideas? I would hate to have to reflash for something so simple.

I had the same problem; as a workable workaround, try this -

Someone mentioned it in another thread in the past week, and I just installed it yesterday - Button Savior (we all need a Savior, even buttons). Works pretty slick.

Adds a lot of other functionality as well, but it is all configurable. Adds access to controls on full screen apps; nice.

I am enjoying it much (PMID 701i 10). I don't remember how it first started up for me, but when it is running it collapses itself on the right side of the screen with only a tiny transparent arrow. So, you're not getting that?

I think it automatically set up to restart on device startup.

Now, when I select its icon in the application pages, it opens to a settings screen, but I've never set anything. Are you getting that screen? If you toggle 'Kill/Start ...' does a transparent arrow on the right edge of the screen not go on and off? Maybe your colors or brightness level hides it.

The first time it didn't work... but after a reinstall it works fine. The actual home soft or hard button still doesn't work, but at least there is still a pretty easy way to keep my from having to wipe the entire thing.
