I also loaded picuntu onto the clone unit to play around with a bit and then reloaded the finless 1.5 rom and android to be sure It could be done with ease ... waiting for a couple 32 gig class 6 micro sd cards to get here and going to get busy modding the clone to my needs. Will be attempting to build a server and access point on it and then connect to it with the stock Imito to start off ... if that works going to set up a repeater and see how it works ... once those configurations are tuned up and working will be building a small set up and see how far apart I can get then to connect together and then see what I can di with them for the fun of it all.

My Imito mx1 connects at a steady 135 Mbps ... tuneing up router settings is the trick
Spent a day or so playing with different wireless cards I have laying around and could get 135 Mbps once in a while .... decided I had to do some tuning of the router settings and the result is a steady 135 Mbps connection now ... still playing with the connection settings and may manage a bit better given time but this is pretty good for most anything its is designed for .

spent a few more hours testing what setting would kick the 135 Mbps back down to out of the box speed
Took a stroll backwards through all the setting in the router to determine just exactly what would kill the 135 Mbps and found a few that do it as soon as they are changed ....
I went through almost every setting and if they were enabled ,I disabled them .If they were disabled I enabled them ... just testing setting to see what effect they would have.
Here are a few results that really make a huge difference ...
Of course the Obvious dont mix wireless modes that dont play well together ... wireless A and N play well together here for me but add in G or B to the mix and the Imito screechs to half speed and stays at a steady 65 Mbps still a nice rate and streams video nicely with hardly any buffering ever but its a bit under Half of what I can get out of it with B and G disabled and since most of my wireless N adapters are older 150 Mbps is the top rate I can expect from the system using them and that puts the Imito just 15 Mbps below the the best rate I could achieve anyway. Not bad at all ....
Running at 20 Mhz instead of 20/40 cuts it back to 65 Mbps also not sure if it haz 40 Mhz capability or its something in the router does that one
Enabling Dns relay in the router throttled it right away as did disabling the routers dhcp server even though I have dhcp set in the router in the modem and have never used it in the dlink wireless n router before this.
Unicasting by itself did not seem to have much effect but It does seem to slow it down a bit when enabled .. Its main function is to provide compatability with some DHCP servers and was enabled by default in my D-link Its off now and everything is working smoothly still so it will stay off.
Turning on the QOS and traffic shaping had a major effect on it also and since I am not a gamer its redundant here so it is disabled as well but the automatic uplink speed setting had no negative effect and is enabled.
Udp and TCP endpoint filtering were set to address restricted by default and changing them to endpoint independent made a impact as well ... I did quite a bit of google searching router settings and learned a good deal about my router today while looking for the bottle necks that hit the Imito hardest.ALL in all a good day ...
Advanced wireless setting that effect it major are disabling wmm and short Gi , while cutting back 2.4 ghz beacon from 100 down to 90 and 5 ghz down from 200 to 190 added a bit of zip to the Imitos performance also.
Watch which channels you are using also, it dosent like channel 1,2,3,7,8, or 9 while channel 1 and 11 it does great on. 10 and 5 were iffy some times did well then suddenly drop out ... could be local interferance here. It definately runs in the 2.4 ghz band though and 5 ghz networks will not even show up in the settings menu for me here on the stock wifi in it.
The results of all this testing ---- LMAO a full day of wathing lost girl on netflix with out a single instance of buffering of a flicker or momentary freeze all day ... and pretty quick response to clicking on play, stop, rewind ect. And as a bonus I now have my laptop wifi fine tuned as well and a 300 Mbps wireless connection to the router almost full time and seldom less than 270 Mbps now on it ...... I was pretty complacent about it before and settled for 50 Mbps on it with its onboard intel/pro abg and broke out a pcmia wireless n adapter I had and installed it just for this test.Last edited by johnblagg; 14 February 2013, 04:32.

LOL I went through every setting in my router almost ,and yes router settings are confusing
Start off with disabling the setting on the basic internet setting page called unicast after all was finished I had messed up somewhere and ended upresetting it back to the default factory settings and then disabled just that and instantly got 135 Mbps again with no other changes. it has been a steady 135 Mbps all night long and looks like that is all that I needed to do in the end ...
I had changed so many different settings that my wireless cards were working but none wanted to connect. but I had switched out so many different cards in the last couple of days that I had to do a system restore on the laptopand the router both to clear out all the leftover drivers that were conflicting and test which the settings I had set apart as the ones to test again and see which one did the trick ...
Unicast is it on my DR-825

Figured I would throw in since I'm suffering as well.
D-link dir-655
Imito MX2 stock 11/29/12 firmware
20 feet with moderate line of site issues
Tested with Speedtest.net app
First thing to mention is what I have seen in modes so far
mixed 802.11n,g,b -constant drops
802.11n,g -constant drops
802.11n -constant drops
802.11g -Rock solid
Since 802.11g was showing me my first reliable signal, I decided to start testing with that. All of the info below is based on what I have seen with 802.11g
Top speed so far:
D: 15,949kbs U: 2,699kbs
Antenna positioning -up to 20% speed variance (all 3 vertical and aligned in a T, facing Imito for me)
Qos disabled -up to 10% increase in download speed
UPnP on/off -no notable difference
Short Gi disabled -no notable difference
Beacon period changes -no notable difference
Unicast on/off -no notable difference
This is what I've found so far. Due to network traffic the variance between tests can be so great that I have had to re-evaluate previous test only to find my results debunked.
So far all I can say for sure is that my Dlink must be strictly on 802.11g if I intend on a reliable (usable) connection, disabling Qos may be beneficial and as always make sure your router isn't crammed in a corner, antennas all willy nilly.
I haven't finished testing yet but this is definitely good enough for now. A week of pissing about with this new device flashing firmwares hoping for a reliable network connection and then a day of strict performance testing is enough for me.

Caught myself fussing with the network again. Just a quick, cool time saver, download the WiFi Overview 360 App. It gives alot of useful info Like telling you what the channels of your neighbors wifi is using and will even go so far as to recommend you the best channel/s to use.
Apparently most of my channels were free and in the clear. The first channel that gave me immediate connects and good signal also matches up with overview on the app. Wish I downloaded it first.
