iMito MX1 freezing unless powered through laptop usb port?

Hi all, I recently bought the iMito MX1 and I'm having trouble with it freezing all the time. I have read the threads addressing the issue here, however, I have noticed a peculiarity that I didn't see anyone mention before:

When I powered the MX1 through my laptop's usb port, it was stable and didn't freeze at all! But as soon as I connect it through the provided adapter or a custom bought one (also 5V-2000mA) it freezes after about 10-20 minutes max.

    I tried:
    • disabling the wi-fi,
    • not connecting any mice or keyboard,
    • connecting wireless mouse and keyboard combo,
    • connecting only a single usb mouse,
    • different power outlets in the house,
    • powering it through the DC and through the other microUSB port,
    • all the HDMI ports on the TV,
    • three different adapters

Basically any variation I could think off. The only thing I didn't try is firmware update/reinstall or rooting but it sounds like a hardware problem so I think that this is moot. I haven't used android before so I'm not at all experienced in this sort of thing, which is why I would like to exhaust all other options.

Nothing seems to make a difference except when it's connected to the laptop usb port. This seems strange to me, as USB 2.0 should only output about 5v-500mA, right? That sounds like it shouldn't be enough juice. But when connected to the laptop usb port it worked fine and without freezes, even with a wireless mouse and keyboard combo connect on the usb slot. What is this devilish trickery?

Seems like that was a fluke, since I tested it yesterday and it froze when connected to the laptop too. It just keeps freezing no matter what I do...this device is unusable, don't buy this crap people.

      Hi,
I am experienced same problems with mine. I bought mine from GeekBuying, just before Christmas. I haven't tested stick with original rom since I installed Finless 1.4/1.5 (1080p and 720p) from day one.

Guys, did you wipe it before installing Finless?
If not do it than reflash and report back.

          Wipe ?

If you mean "Erase NAND" then answer is yes. I have successful increased APP space to 4GB and that is not possible without erasing NAND first...

            Yes,
Try to flash it again and test without any additional apps installed
I flashed several mx1 sticks and they all perform great without the need to restart for weeks.

              Test your power supply!

Do you happen to have a multimeter (VOM)? You should test to see how much your USB port outputs (ie is it 5v @ 2amp)? if your laptop provides better power than the cheapo bricks the unit comes with, or perhaps the one you bought (hey, a lot of this kind of stuff is made for charging phones, way less strict). So perhaps the problem is the power all along?

I bought a 5v-2A adapter that wasn't for charging phones since it had a dc connector, that was replaced with microUSB connector. Sadly I don't have a multimeter....

                  Hi,
i have now flashed again( /w nand erase) and I still have same problems. Have you increased app size on your stick?

I have flashed my another stick, UG802, with 2dark4u/Finless 1.7 and stick is running 24/7 without any problems.

Yes, on all of them to 2gb

Did you try to swap the power supply with the one that is working fine?

                      Hi,
after many frustrating days and sleepless nights I actually fix it yesterday .

Use SetCPU for Root Users to clock it down to to 1200MHz
