I'd say that info was rubbish.

I started off on the stock rom on channel 11. Max download was 1.8mbps.

I used wifi analyser to find the optimal channel to use - channel 5 and switched. Max download was 1.8mbps.

As it made no difference, I left it on channel 5. Finless was downloading at ablut 18mbps on channel 5 but is now down to around 1mbps.

If your router wireless mode is in bgn mixed you can try switch to n only or g only and then run speed test...

Router is only a bg router so problems with n interference.

I have got another wireless router with n support, so will try that at some point. I use the bg one as it gives much better signal and it's mostly the laptop which accesses it which is g only.

This did make me wonder - maybe the stick is connecting in b mode? So I just disabled the B mode so it can only work in G mode.

Tested after and got 400kbps download 1000kbps upload

I tried working around with the different channels too, and found around 8 mb down before Finless, and around 6 mb down after (at channel 13) which were both fine for me too.

This was no problem for me, until it now no longer works at all. Whenever i reboot, it will either start on or off, and eventually turn off the wifi within a few minutes.

No idea what to do really, and thinking on reinstalling stock fw :-(

              It is an odd one,

My is now no worse than it was on stock, just more annoyed by the fact it was perfect! I haven't really installed any apps that would affect it.

I'm getting 54mps connection and signal strength 'good' and only get between 400 and 800kbps download.

Laptop on the same connection gets about 23mbps.

Wired computer gets 30mbps which is the max the internet line supports. The internet is very reliable cable and can sustain a 30mbps connection.

I have just bought an MK809, and I am disapointed with the performance, so I figured I would try the Finless ROM, but I hit a snag.
I downloaded the UG802 ROM, the PDAnet file and the Android SDK.
However, I cannot find the .inf file to edit in the SDK folders.
I tried the Finless ROM flash tool anyways, and i got to the point where It says "Found RKAndroid MAss Storage USB", but when I clikc Reboot to flash mode, I get an error saying "Flashmode failed"

                Any ideas?

                  Nevermind.
                  I figured it out.
I had to start the SDK manager and install the required packages.
                  Sorry for my noobness

Did you get it to install fully? How have you found it since?

It's driving me mad trying to figure out why it worked perfectly for a day or so following the flash, but then the wifi has gone back to being shocking.

                      Just had a quick play,

Pulled the case apart to check the wifi conenction etc, and figured I'd leave it unplugged and test it with the case part which contains the antenna as far from the chips as possible.

Swicthed on, and tried the wifi analyser - no change with the signal strength or quality.

Tried the speedtest.net app and got 15mbps down and 2.1mbps up.

Rebooted to make sure it stayed that strong and got 11mbps down and 2.1mbps up.

Currently streaming a film from the NAS drive and it's working perfectly.

                      So down to three possibilities:

                      1. Bad connection which causes poor signal
                      2. Heat inside from chips etc causes bad signal (doubt this one as it doesn't degrade it can be rubbish from a cold start or can was fine for over 24 hours non stop when I first installed finless.
                      3. Interference from the electronics

Couldn't get h/w decoding on mx player to work though so having to use software at the moment, which seems to handle it.

Currently about 10 meters from the router, in wireless G mode with one double skin brick wall and one partition wall between the router and the mk809.

                        Well that is interesting!

So basically, it all worked out great after you removed the antenna from the other chips? Gave you 11 mbs or so down?

What i just can't figure out is, what it has to do with the Finless rom?

It would have been understandable if it was due to an overclock, but i didn't even choose that one..

Yep still running fine now - watching the same film.

Took about 3 or 4 seconds to start playing at the start and hasn't buffered once during the film.

I can't quite decide what the reason is. I'm edging towards maybe a poor connection.

When I installed Finless I had to move the device around a fair bit to plug into the laptop etc. Maybe I was just lucky and it somehow made it better?

I had tried wiggling every wire before, and squeezing the casing to no avail.

I've even disabled enything that uses wireless technology in the house (wireless central heating stat, wireless remote sender, wireless mouse) and that made no difference - currently the wireless stat and the remote sender are both on and it's working flawlessly so I can rule them out.

I've also got 2 laptops and 3 mobile devices connected to the wifi at the same time and still no loss.

Try popping the case open - I just used my finger nails to pull it apart (was suprised how easy it was!) Then I've just moved the one side away as much as I could with the short wire!

Left it running doing nothing after the film finished.

When I went back to it at about 7pm the max speed I could get was about 800kbps! None of the chips felt hot, just slightly warm.

Tried moving the antenna about to no effect. The wifi strength shows exactly the same it just loses speed.

I took a closer look at the circuit, the solder at the board end of the antenna wire looked very close together. I could check for continuity though as the other end of the antenna joins together. So I cut off the other end. I then checked and found the solder points weren't touching - so it wasn't that!

I stripped back the other end of the wire and connected an external wifi aerial to it (but didn't connect the gnd) - no change though still around 800kbps max.

So really struggling to work out why it can be fine for a short while then be rubbish so soon after - with no changes that I can think of.

Well i tried doing as you said, and so far i haven't found any improvements yet.

Will keep trying and check back if it changes.

Once again it makes the same problem whenever starting out XBMC, disconnecting the WIFI..

I am close to reinstalling original firmware..

I am now flickering around with the idea of reinstalling the original firmware, but i think that perhaps it cant be installed normally, because of the kernel we installed?
