I still haven't tested your UG802 Rom out because my stock rom didn't seem to suffer from most of the issues that plagued everyone else. I was hoping to find a simple way to make a raw backup of my existing ug802 rom before swapping it with your latest rom but I never did. I was too afraid that something may be configured differently in my ug802 and now I would be stuck with a rom that didn't work well on my particular device. Christmas happened and the device has just been sitting on a shelf ever since.

Thx as always for the effort Bob.

Testing latest geekware
Just testing it now....Seems O.K but i never had WiFi issues only heat & green/black screen of death.
I'm running some HD youtube video & it's getting hot again (this time there's a heatsink stuck to the proccessor) this didn't happen with the finless ug802 1.7. it ran cool even with 1704Mhz clock...WTF
But this started to get corrupted from improper shutdowns as there was no working shutdown it just rebooted instead.
Still testing.......

It's behaves almost as though the Wifi is overheating. It starts ok but once the speed increases over the 8-10Mbs barrier it drops and then drops again and again with increasing frequency. I really wish there was an app that let me set a max wifi data transfer speed on the device to see if I could narrow it down to an exact speed. It would have the added benefit of keeping my connection slow but stable without screwing with my entire network.
footnote: The other devices that intermittently connect to my Dlink dir-655 (UG802 included) all function fine at any speed for any duration.Last edited by fullygeneric001; 24 February 2013, 00:34.

So interesting....
This new kernel will not work with the older system and visa versa. Wifi and BT wont work.
Looking at boot.img and system, they for sure made some changes to the drivers.
FYI, this is a 720P only kernel.
Now the bad part is the previous 1080P kernel will not work with this new system and boot. So if I am to make a ROM I either stick with this new 720 kernel and system, or I make my 1.7 ROM using the previous kernels and my system!
I think I will go the latter as I really do not see any inprovement with wifi over the previous version.
What do you all think?

MOre interesting info.
The new kernel will work with the previous ROM boot.img and system.img
However the reverse is NOT true! The older kernels like the Imito 1080P kernel will not work with the new boot.img and system.img I found why. The drivers are different and in boot they modified the wifi buffer setup etc.
Now I have been testing my butt off.. I find the new kernel with the old system and boot has a better wifi signal for me.
I am going to release my 1.7 ROM for testing tonight.
I am going to offer 2 versions of 1.7 which is a totally faster setup and a cool new system.img!
1.7a will use new 720 kernel and also support the old 1080 kernel but will use previous drivers.
1.7b will be only the new 720 kernel and new drivers. 1080 kernels will not work.
You guys can test and tell me which is better for your wifi.

Just a quick update.
I have found that it seems less likely that I have been suffering from an Imito MX2 hardware problem as it is a network compatibility issue. Essentially it doesn't like to connect to my router properly unless my dir-655 is set to only use 802.11g.
For more info check out the thread: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?3823
Although that is a solution I can't help but feel it's a bit irritating to have that kind of compatibility issue with a router of it's age and quality.
