not sure what you mean by 'hard reset'. id you need to get back to the original stock, why not just flash the original live suite image?

the stock recovery will just get you to a black screen.

So you are telling me with this device when you go to stock recovery you do not have options to wipe data and factory reset like all other Android devices?

If you had done a cursory search on the web site, you would have seen the Southern Telecom support site, where you could download drivers and see how to enter the service mode.

Here, I've made it easy for you:

Make sure you pick the 'correct' version of your PMID701i, since there are three. This has all the instructions how to flash back to stock.....speaking of which, in case you're search impaired, here's the link to the Stock ROM's:

In the future, do please try to search for answers before saying that there's not much support for this tablet-there are several of us on here, myself included, which have these tablets. We're only too happy to help, but not amidst demands for support.

elektrik has this tablet or something similar so he probably knows better than I what you'll end up with if you get into Recovery. If you want to try, here's one trick that works with at least some tabs: with the tablet booted normally, press and hold the power button until it turns off. IGNORE the popup that asks if you want to shut down. Now, try again by pressing and holding Vol+ and power.

As to flashing the stock firmware... Have you gone to http://www.southerntelecom.com/polar...port/firmware/ to get it? Unfortunately, there were several models and each uses incompatible firmware. Look at the sticker on the back (if it's still there). If it just says "PMID701i" it's probably uses the A10 firmware; otherwise, it should be more specific ("-13" or -X10).

In the firmware zip is LiveSuite, probably v1.07. The secret to getting its driver installed is to run "LiveSuitePack_version_xxxxx".exe". This is actually an installer that will reinstall all the files you already have but will also install the driver. In Device Manager, you'll end up with an entry with a yellow exclamation point. Don't worry about it - just leave it there. A second, valid entry will appear while a flash is in progress and disappear when it's done.

When you go to flash the firmware image, the operation will quickly fail if you chose the wrong model - it just won't install A10 software on an A13 or vice-versa.

                  Good luck.

you're quite welcome, and thanks for berating people who are trying to help someone who is seemingly used to getting away with being demanding. we're all in the same boat with these devices and your attitude isn't helping. It is seemingly obvious you didn't use the search functions of this forum, else you would have seen *numerous* posts that could have helped you.

                      sorry you were offended....

A bit off topic perhaps, but in defense of Mick, this forum is not an easy place to find things. Maybe for the person who has authored about half of the material added in the last 6-8 months (for which we are very appreciative) certain things may be obvious or 'easy' to find. But even as someone that has read about everything posted over the last 12 months as it was added, I find it very hard to find specific information, even if I know I read it before. Search might bring you to a thread that is 6-8 pages long, and without [re]reading the whole thing front to back you can't know if you got the most recent or 'final' statement on a subject. It would be nice if there were a curator who culls the nuggets of value here and keep that record updated as things are added, but there isn't.So the best we can do is when a new person grapples with an issue and has presumably made some attempt to find the answer (a person wouldn't be at this forum if they had not already been searching for an answer), that we who grasp what the issue entails would (preferable in a clean thread) give a concise answer with the most up to date gleaning of collective knowledge.

I'm not sure how to respond to this, given that I was in the exact same position as Mick when I first got here. I'm disturbed by the words 'in defense of' as if I were attacking him personally. Perhaps I was a bit abrasive, however given the fact that everything I learned about the tablet was learned by myself, with very little assistance, and my own work, I'm not entirely sympathetic to these types of things. I had to do the very thing you mentioned. I found myself searching through threads that are '6 - 8 pages long' for answers to my own questions, just like everyone else. If you go to any other site like this (xda-developers.com being the best known) you'll experience the same thing.

With that said, perhaps there would be someone who would want to be this curator who 'culls the nuggets of value'. Let's be part of the solution as the saying goes.

                          P.S. A qualification: I say 'you' but I don't mean you personally, I mean a collective.

                            all good

in support of all forums as this.. agreed they all could be better... and scrolling thru multiple pages is something I am used to (brain picker is my preference for learning) although laborious. It is these reasons I favor android and have enjoyed trying to brick my phone for nearly 10 yrs. I am surprised that there seems to be no android recovery. I believe it is misleading on the distributors end and have noted so to stc in my post for pmid720. The recovery option is why I prefer android. I guess that explains 0mb in the partition.

                            rooted pmid720
                            no pmid720.IMG on stc support

thanks to all on this forum.. I've learned a lot... xda is slipping if the don't begin to focus on tabs

Two days back got this tab (Polaroid PMID 706) as a gift (new) and it was working like a dream, but suddenly I am facing this problem when I switch it on it does open but I am getting a blank screen and nothing else, it is charging also. I have reset the tab but to no avail.Would very much appreciate the help. Thanking you in advance.
