But I'd like to make you aware of a thread running over @ xbmc org forum... I'll post the link to the most appropriate page as it's 40 pages long. It's concerning getting xbmc running correctly for the RK3066 soc. My apologies if you are already aware of the thread but I thought it was worth highlighting as you are a rom dev, it may be of real use to the guy who writes kernels for you.... especially page 40, post #394.

Getting the libstagefright.so embedded into you ROMs could prove extremely helpful to RK3066 owners... on a personal note I use your 1.7 720p no over clock (fastest ever :-) ) on my UG802 & MK802-III...great ROMs by the way.

Is it possible to use Root explorer to copy the new libstagefright.so into the system/lib folder thus replacing the original?

would that work?

Yes you need to copy the file to /system/lib and give it the correct permissions.

Just to update

I downloaded the new libstagefright.so and used Root explorer to copy it into the system/lib folder and set permissions to rw- r-- r--

then did a reboot.

I'm stuck on the loading screen (bootloop) so it looks like I will have to reset the mk802III by shorting out the two pins.

Im using the 'UG802 2dark4u/Finless custom ROM version 1.7 - true 1080 and overclock - AND best performance ever!' rom
which is set to 720p.

I will try again soon, anyone else have the same bootloop problem as me?

Your stick have the rk3066?

Yes its a RK3066, i will re-download the finless rom 1.7 and the libstagefright.so and try again, just to rule out the possibility of a corrupt install

You need to read the thread in full from page 35 ... the libstragefright.so is for 4.1 not 4.0, and is still under heavy development.... def not ready for prime time....testing only @ the moment. Also read the first post in the thread.

Just recovered from my bootloop and re-installed finless 1.7 rom, according to the 'about device' tab its running 4.1.1

so I guess the rom should be ok?

I tried it again, same result as before mk802III is stuck in a bootloop.

Off to do some reading over at XBMC forums to see what the issue could be.

I know I'm doing something wrong but not sure what it could be lol.

Yes I did already know about this and in fact put it in my imito mx1 rom I released for testing on sunday.
