    Need Some starter Guide here!

Hi, I am new to this device.
A few questions would like to check with you guys, thanks in advance.
    1. Does the new device comes with CWM recovery? If not, how to flash in CWM Recovery? Where to find suitable CWM Recovery for this device?
    2. How do we tell which kernel (720/1080) are we having before flashing new/upgrade kernel?
    4. Is flashing of new ROM through CWM Recovery the only way?
    5. How do we recover the device when we are not able to go into Recovery mode like system hang?
    Many Thanks!

    1. No you have to install it, a guide is in this forum.
    2. Usually all tv sticks come with 720 kernel, and you can flash a 1080 one if there is one of them for your device.
    3?? No 3?
    4. No.
    5. There are tools to flash the device from Windows pc.

I suggest you read a bit, there are faq in android tv section with useful information, and a lot of information from here in the threads.

All Neo G4 are now shipping with JB 4.1.1 with the 720p firmware. If can be flashed to the 1080p firmware too, but many have said that it is slower and the fonts too small and reverted back to the 720p version. I think if you want to switch it back and forth then flash it with the older 4.0 ICS firmware instead.

The box now say it comes with a HDMI cable instead of the male-male HDMI adapter that is listed in the manual. I guess it didn't make sense since the G4 and X5 comes with a IR which is pretty useless if it is stuck on the back of your screen.

The OEM firmwares can be found here:

                @EdT, thanks.

I have flashed the CWM Recovery as above and backup the stock ROM and is quite satisfy with the existing ROM for now. I have not encountered any major problem on video streaming and surfing the web with the pre-installed Chrome apk.
Just discovered an iMediaShare Lite apk from the Google Play Store that run perfectly with the pre-installed ehomemedia application.

Just to check if I am able to set to the following screen resolution, does it means I am on 1080p kernel?

I changed the font size through Setting>Display>FontSize to "Huge"

                The Specifications:

Which version is this ? looks like this is the older firmware before the .117 one. You should set it at the 1080p 60hz. The new firmware only gives you one choice 720p 60hz !

May I know what is the different between 50 and 60Hz?

50 or 60hz depends on your TV. In USA all TV's are 60hz. In Europe as an example they are all 50hz.

"Прости им, они не ведают, что творят"
"Perdona loro perché non sanno quello che fanno"
"Vergib ihnen, denn sie wissen nicht, was sie tun"
"Vergeef hen want ze weten niet wat ze doen"
"Pardonne-leur car ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font"
"Perdónalos porque no saben que lo que hacen"
"Oprosti im, jer ne znaju što čine"
"Forgive them as they know not what they do"

60HZ is less jittery than 50HZ, but it depends on the frquency your TV station/country standard is using.

                        Thanks for the clarification !

"On Friday, 1 December 2006 based in Singapore officially began HDTV trials. Two Singaporean broadcasters were involved, MediaCorp (broadcasting HD in DVB-T) and StarHub Cable Vision (DVB-C). Both broadcast in 1080i, but at 50 Hz, in line with the traditional PAL frequency Singapore uses. "

Thanks Bob and EdT for your clarification and the local info. Many littles make A Lot.

Yes, 50hz gives more stable display for me. Trial&Error before.

Again, I would like to ask if there is option to choose either 1080/720p as shown in the previous picture, does it means that it supports both kernels? is it true?
and how do you tell whether it is over clocked on the CPU speed?

Also, is Droidmote a good suppliment to this device? else any other alternatives, pls advise.
                          Many Thanks.
