Anyone tried usb audio out with Finless 1.7?

I have the MK808B running Finless 1.7 and tried using usb audio out without success so far. I bought one of those cheap 7.1 channel usb sound cards http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 with 3.5mm speaker out jack and microphone. (Maybe it does not support optical out?) jack.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I then plugged a 3.5mm to toslink cable to my A/V receiver. I change the setting in sound manager from hdmi to usb (which means the mk808b detects the sound card plugged in, otherwise the setting for usb does not appear). I do not see light from the toslink and my receiver does not output any sound. I will investigate later with a 3.5mm to rca composite (red/white) but I have to go and buy one first. I need to find a working solution for this as I am outputting video to a projector and my A/V receiver is an older one and does not support hdmi. I would appreciate any ideas or success stories...thanks.

I just confirmed that it does not work with regular 3.5mm jack headphones either.

Try the 1.6 ROM. I cannot test that audio dongle as I do not have it. I do have a older 2.1 audio dongle which I did test and it worked.

1.7 ROM has updated audio stuff so it's possible I broke that in 1.7? it shouldnt but again try 1.6

That toslink to mini optical is not an analog compatible device.........It's fibre all the way through.
I would use 3.5mm stereo to RCA red and white.
Or maybe your A/V has a 3.5mm AUX in?
Have not tried mine on my mk808 but it works on my MX1.

The 7.1 channel sound card should be digital out not analog, right? My guess is spdif, but perhaps not optical compatible? I saw another one on Amazon that is optical compatible for about 11 dollars.

Since it still didn't work with headphones, I plan to try the 1.6A rom tomorrow.

Analog only this one.........sounds like you want the usb to optical one you found.
As for testing with headphones i have not tried it as yet but the audio was nice and clear, no distortion or clipping that happens with most headphone outputs, so maybe the headphones symbol is an internationaly recognized designator of somewhere analog audio is output and not an indicator of line level or headphone level in this case.

Okay, I have settled on this one http://www.amazon.com/Vantec-Externa...und+card+spdif . I am still curious as to why this one isn't working with the headphones. I tested it on my Windows 7 PC and it puts out awesome sound after loading drivers took a while. I am wondering if it could be a driver issue with Android. I am new to Android and don't know anything about how drivers are handled. Is everything plug and play? Anything I can check to see if the device is compatible or not? Thanks for your help. BTW, was your testing done on MK808 or MX1? If MK808, was it with 1.7?

No everything is not plug and play with Android. It does not have even close to the amount of driver support say Linux or Windows has. So good chance this is a driver issue with that specific device.

Only way to have a better look is to pull the dmesg log and also logcat.

                  Bob,

I would be happy to do that and post the results here. Can you tell me how to do this?

OK the easy way without installing ADB and drivers is to go get a terminal emulator from Google Play.

Now to get dmesg. OPen the terminal emulator and type
                    su
Respond yes to allow root access.
                    now type
                    dmesg
Copy this out to a file.

For logcat it is a little different as I do not want allt he junk from boot.
So boot up without the USB audio device plugged in.
                    Open terminal and type:
                    su
                    logcat -c

Now plug in the USB audio device and go into settings and enable use of it.
                    now type
                    logcat
Again copy this out to a file.

                      Bob,

Good news. I found a thread on another forum http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechfo...php?f=29&t=168 Someone mentioned trying their device on the full size usb port instead of otg. It worked for me too. Problem solved. I guess the logs are not needed now.

                      Thanks, Timbo.

OMG..... we all assumed you were using that!

This is the only port that is a USB host! Other ports are not. So yes all peref's should be plugged into the full sized USB port.

Let me start by saying thanks because this tread did indeed help me, as I was looking around ways of connecting the MK808 to my sound bar.
If you don't mind, can you please share your complete connection, as well as the end result (for the sound quality)
And another question for the experts here, it should still work through a USB hub right ?

                              I have the same questions.
                              - Does it work with a hub?(mouse/keyboard and soundboard)
                              - what cable connections are you using to sound out
                              - does 5.1 digital works?
