Hardware Upgrades. Possible, or no damned way?
I was wondering how feasible it would be to upgrade my tablet's hardware. I have a polaroid 701i X10 and I've heard of battery upgrades for some polaroid tabs that have been done. My co worker who's in ITT for something to do with computers was telling me that I should even be able to upgrade to a better processor or add on bluetooth. I know the Elektricty Rom is rigged for bluetooth. Anywho just really wondering and getting my hopes up slightly. Is any of this possible, or should I go back to my original gameplan of investing at least $300 into whatever I get next for a tablet?Tags: None

A battery upgrade would be possible. The pmid 701 series uses a standerd 3.7v lipo battery. Upgrading the wifi antenna would also be possible with a little bit of soldering.
The wifi card itself is soldered directly to the board, you might be able to change it. It is a standard usb wifi card modified to be itstalled internally. You might be able to do something with the usb connection there. I also believe I read somwhere that there is a version of this wifi card with bluetooth on it.
You could also put in a switch to bridge the 4th and 5th pins on the usb out to enable otg without having to have the special cable, maybe wire a female usb a adapter somewhere.
Here is a teardown shoot of the pmid701c with a list of components.

I would say that upgrading the processor would be impossible without completely rebuilding and reprograming the mainboard.
There is a way to get the tablet to see the external micro sd card as the internal one. Here's a link to a discussion on it. If you read through it you can piece together how to do it.
