808B max linkspeed only 65mbps - though wifi is advertised as b/g/n

Hi,
Has it not struck anybody that the MK808B's WiFi would connect max at 65mbps?
Even though its wifi is advertised as b/g/n it won't go beyond 65!
Any modern day N wifi should atleast get to 150 if not 300.
Any fix for this? is the hardware a piece of junk or is it the drivers?

edit: i've not modded my wifi hardware. i guess even mods wont help it go beyond 65.

That is the way it is.

Wifi N comes in different flavours. If you check mobile phones reviews you will see that some N capable models also link at 65Mbps.
Now if you want to know real life speeds. 65/8 (bits/bytes) devide by 2 since wifi is not full duplex and overhead (checksums etc) = give or take 3.5 to 4MByte/s
This is actually fast enough to stream some nice quality video.

Now that 3.5 to 4 only happens when you have a perfect connection, so most important is a good antenna mod, good power supply and attach that USB dongle for the keyboard/mouse away from the wifi antenna, for example with a usb extension cable.


I have had my MK808 since the beginning. I must say I was not to happy like you sound at the moment.
With the mods the device turns into something useable and fun.
