Problem with my UG802 and Finless ROM 1.4 - please help

Hi, I have just tried to install Finless ROM 1.4 (http://video.freaktab.com/?subpath=f...te_version.zip) in my UG802, and it seems something went wrong. After the android "green robot" progress screen, the Android TV stuck in a screen with a blue robot in the centre sourrounded by blinking blue lights, and a text that says "INYDEALZ FREAKTAB CUSTOM ROM A Finless bob Root V1.4". And nothing else happens. I' ve tried to restart the stick (unplug the power and plug again) and it is the same, the UG802 starts but inmediately, after the penguins, it stuicks in this screen.

Anyone that knows some way to solve this could help me? Or is it that now I have a brick?

    P.S.: I found this procedure:

but the layout of my UG802 is different, I attach some photos

That is not a real UG802!

    See this:

"Прости им, они не ведают, что творят"
"Perdona loro perché non sanno quello che fanno"
"Vergib ihnen, denn sie wissen nicht, was sie tun"
"Vergeef hen want ze weten niet wat ze doen"
"Pardonne-leur car ils ne savent pas ce qu'ils font"
"Perdónalos porque no saben que lo que hacen"
"Oprosti im, jer ne znaju što čine"
"Forgive them as they know not what they do"

Hi, thank you for your answer. So I have been conned and I have received a clon (by Tinydeal, by the way). I will complain, but I'm afraid of the answer ...

I'm going to take a look at that thread, but newbie as I am, please, if you could give me a short answer to these questions, just for me to have a clear idea:

      - Is there any possible solution?

      - If not, is it possible that there will be a solution in the future? a possible future ROM that the stick could detect in this state, or something like that?

      - Should I assume that now I have a brick, or there is still something I could try?

Just for not wasting my time, if there's not anything else to do.

      Thank you in advance

      BR

Inthat thread there is a ROM download posted that works on this device.

Now to recover from your "boot loop" this is how you do it on a real UG802.

However your board is different. Looking at your pictures I do see 2 pads that maybe the same thing:

First picture at the top of the board I see pads labeled ED2.
Then at the very bottom of the board just under the nand chip I see another 2 pads but I cannot read the label on the board. It is a vertical set right at the edge of the board.

You might go into that other thread and ask those guys that have them which are the pads to short to recover.

I don't know exactly which other pad you mean (I'm so noob ...); if you want to check out (just if you're interested, as you recommend I will try to get some info in those threads) these are the large size photos (click on them to make them larger):

Thank you for your help, I'll come back to thank you if I finally fix it

            Still not working

I have downloaded the new ROM Finless made for our "clones" (thank you!), and I haven't been able to install it. I describe the steps I've performed:

            1.) Turn on the computer.

2.) Plug the stick by means of the microUSB-USB cable to a USB port of the computer (NOTE: the stick is NOT connected to the TV. The HDMI plug is not connected to anything). Nothing happens.

3.) Reset by shorting ED2 pads. The computer detects it. Windows tries to install it but the device is not succesfully installed. In device manager it is shown a new entry "Class for rockusb devices -> RK30 Device" with a yellow exclamation on it. In Windows explorer, NOTHING is detected (i.e.: NO new storage device is shown).

4.) I update the driver (Right click on the exclamation sign, update drivers, find drivers in the computer). I find the "RBox UG80x_9 stock ROM made by finless->drivers->x64->win7" folder (extracted from http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ll=1#post57002). Windows installs the drivers successfully:

            - The "RK30 device" entry in device manager now has a blue interrogation instead of a yellow exclamation. If I click on right button, in the dialog box it says the device (RK30 Device. Device type: Class for rockusb devices. Manufacturer: Fuzhou Rockchip) is working properly.

            - In the right bottom corner of the computer display, it is shown the icon to expell the USB device (as if it were an external hard drive).

            - In Windows explorer NOTHING is detected (only C: and D:, the DVD, are shown. No new external units).

NOTE: I first selected "x86->win7" even if my equipment is 64 bits, just to check these were not the correct drivers. Windows failed to install them as expected. The I chose "x64->win7" and the installation was succesful as said above.

5.) I reboot the computer, unplug the stick, and after restart I repeat steps 2.) and 3.) (4.) not needed).

6.) Now, in this state (RK30 Device shown in device manager as working properly, indication to extract hardware safely shown by windows 7 indicating detection of the unit in the USB port, nothing detected in Windows explorer):

            - I run "Finless ROM Flash Tool - RKAndroidTool v1.35". It says "No found RKAndroid rock usb". This does not change.

            - I run "Rockchip Batch Tool v1.5". All the squares at the bottom (numbered 1 to 8) are grey.

One more piece of data: Yesterday afternoon I connected the stick to the TV just to check what it is displaying now. What is displayed is the typical screen of the green Android robot knocked-down with a red triangle coming out from its belly.

And this is my situation now. At this point, I still have a brick. Is it that I'm doing something wrong? Am I missing anything?

Question: As it seems that (so far) it's impossible for me to install the new ROM from the USB, would it be any ways to install it from an external SD Card? An update.img file maybe?

OK sounds like the driver is installed OK but the flash tool is not working.

Make sure you are not going through a USB hub. Use a USB port on the motherboard (usually the back of the PC).
Make sure it is not a USB 3.0 port. It must be a USB 2.0 port.
In your bios settings make sure USB is not set to "high speed" but set to legacy or normal USB port.

Try a different USB cable. We have seen bad ones.

Best I can tell you here but it appears somehting is up with your PC?

FYI the dead Android man is because there is no ROM installed and recovery failed.

Sorry, I could not answer before.

Oh, oh, I'm afraid it's going to be a problem of USB 3.0. All the ports in my computer are USB 3.0!

Moreover: the reason I tried to flash v1.4 is because, following this post:

First I tried to follow the complete installation (using v1.7 as decribed) and everything was fine until step 7: "Found RKAndroid Mass Storage Usb" was not displayed. Then I tried the workaround with moborobo and rooting the stick, then installing SuperSU and Busybox and ... yes, everything fine! But no, still the tool did not detect the stick.

All this when the stick was still up and running with the stock ROM.

And that's the reason why I finally tried to install v1.4 the easy (and not recommended) way with the known result ...

So, Tomorrow I will try again with a PC with USB2.0 ports. Hoping this is the problem and so the solution ... I'll let you know the result.

                BR

P.S.: I don't really understand what "recovery failed" means, in practice ... Is it a problem?

Not a problem really cause you will flash the entire Rom. Tomorrow when you use the other pc with 2.0 ports all musts be ok and you can flash your Rom.

You might try this. I thik this will force USB to comply with 1.1

In my ROM kit is a file called settings.ini
open it with a text editor and change this:

                    SUPPORTUSB11=0

Turn it on by changing the 0 to a 1 and then save the file.
Close and open the flasdh tool again.

                    See if it then works.

                      YESSSS!!!!!!!

                      UP AND RUNNING!!!!!!

That was it! I have set value '1' in settings.ini file and executed the tool, then shortcut ED pads and connected the stick into the (USB 3.0) port, and the tool has detected the stick immediately.

Then the only thing I've done is directly "Flash ROM". I don't know if I should have done anything else but well ... now it's working!

Thank you so much. You rock!

                      Cheers!

I think I am going to change that always in my ROM kits!

I too have the blue Android and the blue flashing dots, but I bought my device from in4dealz.com.

How can this be? Isn't that what you advertise in your ROMs?
