I see that the SDcard is actually internally partition. How do I access the external SD location via ES File Explorer?

Make sure in ES you have:
1) Enabled root explorer
2) Enabled up to root
3) enabled mount systemRW (optional).
The go up to root level, open /mnt and in there you will see external_sd
