I will tell you.... this stock ROM has a bad root. It comes pre-rooted with superuser.apk but it is jacked up. No rooted APPs work and fail root check. So I have to fix the stock ROM first.

Then I will do a full eval on this and let you know.... also I now see the frame drops on ALL the latest ROMs now. It's in blocks not frame by frame like before. I can recognize the frame skip issues now. Stay tuned.

FYI.... Wifi works REALLY WELL on this stick!

I am sure it is because of a proper external antenna!

I am super happy with wifi on this stick

Oh well, that's me just ordered the CX919! Hope I've made the right choice. That now brings my number of Android devices to 5. I just hope I can get the post before my wife sees it or she will freak out at me buying another gadget 'I don't need'

It's nice to hear that the cx-919 is working so well for you. We know the hardware has been improving with these newer sticks and now hopefully they will start improving the firmware as well. With any luck the end result to alternative ROM development is less focus on ROM patching and more focus on ROM optimizing and enhancing.

I've been wanting to buy that unit all along and I think I'll bite the bullet. A strong network connection and quality streaming video playback is of utmost importance to me and it sounds like that is where the cx-919 excels.

I look forward to seeing what you can get out of this unit.
Thx for all your hard work Bob.

I'm still not sure which stick to get. I know all of them are currently experiencing some bugs etc.

The ones of my liking would be the Tronsmart T428, the Imito QX1 or the CX-919.

The Tronsmart has the advantage that many of the users on this forum use this devive. The development therefore seems to be the farthest. E.g. Strauzo seems to have managed to solve the video jittering problem. Also the T428 has dual band wifi.

The Imito QX1 seems to have solid build. Due to the metallic cover it should be easy to keep the heating at an acceptable level. However there is no support for custom roms as of yet.

The CX-919 seems to get great responses here in the forum. The external wifi antenna is one of its main advantages as far as I can see.
There is the US plug CX-919 and the Tronsmart CX-919, can somebody clarify for me what the differences are? Or is it exactly the same device?

What are your opinions? Which one would you get if you picked one now? Also do you see any special disadvantages of either of these devices? E.g. BT connectivity? This would also be one of my main concerns, since I want to be able to pair for example a sixaxis controller.

Thanks in advance for your inputs!

I can comment about QX1, It has a custom kernel almost finished, and the sources I use, with all modifications will be uploaded to github, only BT need to be fixed in the custom kernel, but working on it yet. This device has a problem, (I hope it can be solved by Imito with a software update, Eric from geekbuying is pressing them to solve it), when you restart the device, seems that it fails lo load wifi, and you need to disconnect it from DC to make it work again. It uses a "special wifi chip" 8189es.ko driver but with the external antenna signal and speed are really good, heat is well disipated too.

using both cx-919 and cs868 and I`m happy with both. Have the same problem with youtube on the cs868 but a couple toggles between fullscreen brings the picture up which is no big deal for me. Video is superior on the cs868 and the latest firmware seems to be a little smoother too

cx-919 cannot do mx player hw+ but the cs868 handles it no problem You should check your power supply if your having problems i never use the cheap ones that come with these sticks
