[Q] Power the MK808 through mini-usb

Hi,
I have an old 5v 3A power supply.
I want to use it to power my mk808, but the plug is not mini-usb.

My question is - can i cut the plug, and connect the 2 wires from the PSU to the mini usb cable? I mean, i have only positive and negative terminals on my PSU. what about D+ and D- ? Can I leave them disconnected?

Thanks for this diagram, I did the exact same thing with a 5v 2.5a power supply I found lying around. Did you end up soldering the usb data wires together afterwards? I was reading in a few other threads that the MK808 might just assume it's in data mode and only call for 500ma. I don't know if it's true or not, but I assumed with the data wires just cut in our splices, it should just be receiving the full power.

The rear micro USB port on the MK808x does not have data lines. It is just for power only.

i just connected both of power lines, and left the Data lines unconnected.

it works great.

Converting ATX Power Supply.

I am actually running my MK808 on a converted ATX (old computer) power supply. The link below shows how to convert the ATX. I used only 5VDC. Load resistor available at Radio Shack. I just wired the red and black to pwr leads on USB male cable. Used reducer to plug into MK808. Nothing fancy. PS has plenty of capacity for several loads.
