    MOMO11 Root anyone? Looking for testers

    OK so I downloaded the MOMO11 ROM from the Ployer web site. I can root this ROM too. However it will not boot on my Arnova tablet unlike the MOMO7 will. So I canot even test if I have a brick ROM made or not

    So I am willing to make a full root ROM for this tablet but I need testers! I will start on it when someone signs up.

    I will tell you this. That ROM is a mess! It has 3 kernels in it. Ployer has kind of messsed this one up. I bet they THINK the new kernel they made is getting updated in tablets but it is not!
    Let me explain why:
    Thier first ROM for the MOMO11 had the kernel in boot.img. This is just like the MOMO7. All fine and good but that is the old school way as boot times are longer. Having a separate kernel.img makes for a faster boot and most new tablets today have it this new way.

    Now get this. Thier new ROM now has a separate kernel.img but the dummys left the old kernel in boot.img!!!! So what happens is even when you flash the new ROM, when the tablet boots back up it uses the kernel in boot.img NOT the one you flash as kernel.img...... THEN on top of that, they left yet another full kernel in recovery.img!!!! Not that this is a big deal but it is not needed and is this taking up memory from you.

    If I get some tester for the MOMO11 I will clean this entire mess up for you all.

        Just to confirm there is no confusion with the 'bird' edition, you are planning to work on MOMO11-RK2918-20111228.rar , Right ?

            Hi Bob

            I have it rooted with gingerbreak, but indeed the ROM is a mess as you said, so anything you can do to clean it up will be a big plus.

              Eeek... I dont want a semi rooted ROM to work with. Sorry.
              Is the one in your dropbox stock or semi rooted?

                No worry. Both links give you the same file, stock 100% untouched and unrooted.

                  So I assume you have the drivers installed and know how to flash with RKBatch tool or RKAndroid tool?

                  My ROMs are not a simple copy update.img to the SDCard. I make fundamental changes that the recovery system cannot deal with. So you have to use the flash tools.

                  So are you good there and know how to do this?

                    Hi Bob, I have both RKBatchTool 1.4 and RKAndroid 1.29. Not afraid of them at all, although I may need some guidance with the offsets if we use RKandroid

                    Still giving a try to the USB drivers and following Damo's tutorial (kudos for Damo!!!) .
                    I have a Win7 machine , a WinXP machine and a Linux machine so I wouldd expect no major issue although the first attempt on Win7 yesterday was -of course- negative.

                    Let me give it another try and I will tell you once it is up and running. Not my first android device but it is the first one on Rockchip and with chinese instructions

                        Hello Finless,

                        I also have a MOMO11, And I made some what of a mess with it! I installed an upgrade to ICS from the chinese forum, but now when I connect it to the computer the detected device is no longer a rockchip 2918 but a hellos7 device and I can't find the right drivers, can you givea help on this??

                          Not sure how to help there but realize when booted up it can show up as anything. However when it is in FLASH MODE the RKBatch tool or the RK Android tool should work regardless of what the drivers say it is.

                          This is how you recover from a bad flash. With one of those tools.
                          RKBatch tool is for flashing the stock update.img
                          RKAndroid tool is for flashing custom ROM that are made of all the parts. systm.img, boot.img etc.

                              Hi Bob, indeed and vice-versa !! Sure I am ready.
                              In teh meantime I tried another tablet's ICS (Arnova) with no luck, so I reverted back to the original.

                              Molly if you need a copy of the original stock ROM for your MOMO11 you can find it on the earlier links I posted.
