Boot animations on Finless 1.7

Hi everyone,

I just got my new MK808B (original, not clone) and loaded Bob's Finless 1.7 ROM. It runs like a champion, thanks for all your hard work Bob!

Quick question: on bootup, it quickly cycles through the Google TV logo, then the Finless splash screen and then whatever is in /system/media/bootanimation.zip. How do I change the part before the boot animation kicks in (the Google TV logo and the Finless splash screen)?

So I unpacked the boot.img and recovery.img, but I'm not seeing the initlogo.rle, which is what I would expect to see. Any hints?

I realize too that I should have called it "bootsplash" or "boot image", not boot animation. That's what happens when you do things quickly.

I have changed the code and made it my own. Reason you might ask?
ROM KANGERS! That means people stealing my work and calling it theirs without adding value to the work! I HATE people that do that shit!

I am 100% OK when someone comes to me and asks "Bob can I use your ROM to make my own?". Then I ask what they plan to do? If it is nothing more than throwing in APPs, changing the boot screens, and not doing any kind of real development adds, I say NO! If they want to contribute and do something users will find useful, I say YES....

Now, it sounds like you really do not like the boot screen. That's fine. I do not mind. If you want a custom boot screen, I will make one for you! All I ask is that at least you still have somewhere on it, "A finless ROM" or something like that. I have no problem making personal boots for people.

But, if your doing it to try and make a ROM with your name on it without adding VALUE, forget asking me.

I hope that makes sense?

Which Finless ROM ? 1.7C ? Maybe you can point me to the link ?
I just got my MK808B too. It has the green leaf wallpaper which I couldn't find the place to change it... and it does not have any off button or sleep button...
I like the boot up screen which is very simple "Google TV", "android".... simple is nice...
I hope Finless Bob can create a simple and not too fleshy boot up screen too

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your response. I assure you I'm not a kanger nor do I have any plans to redistribute your rom. You can search my name on xda and you will see that I only ask questions and help others, I don't distribute any roms.

Thanks for offering to integrate the boot screen into the rom for me, I appreciate that and will send you the image I had in mind once I create it (not to worry, you will be credited on the bootscreen).

Just out of curiosity, would you send create just a small flashable file with the boot splash? Will it work after an update? I don't want to bug you about splash screens everything you release a new version (which is why I wanted to figure out how to do it myself...teach a man to fish as the saying goes).

Thanks for pointing me to the artwork thread too, seems like it's a discussion about the default boot screen for future roms, not a custom one like I want.

Anyway, thanks for the help and the explanation and I will send you the image later today or (more likely) over the weekend.

Sure thing. Send me the boot screen and I will make a new boot.img for you. All you have to do is flash the new boot.img and it wont erase anything.

I have my work all scripted so it only take me a minute to make a custom boot.

Just in case you wondered why I wanted to use that, it's to go with this more... minimal boot screen. I figured that if you want your name on it, it'd be better to flaunt it, rather than make something else and stick your name in a corner.

The picture "Google TV powered.png" looks very nice. Bob, could you create the 1080p version of that, too?

I would suggest a boot image like this as part of the default ROM package or even as the default boot image.
