    Pipo M9 RileyROM 1.0

This is my first ROM for a RK3188 tablet. It is based on the most recent official firmware for the Pipo M9.

This ROM is rooted with 2gb user app space, init.d support and Google Play Store permissions fix.

Thanks to 900Supersport, here at Freaktab.com for the rk3288 flash kit and Tattman65 for my kernel logo and bootanimation screen.

Hopefully, future releases will include CWM Recovery support with further testing.

Future ROM's for this tablet may be done by Finless...since hopefully soon he will have one of these tablets...we'll see.

I do not have this tablet to test, but I have heard from some users that there might be different versions released. If so, we will need to have a cache of kernels for the different versions...(we ran into this with the yuandao N101's), so feel free to post those kernels here and discuss your results.

Just follow the instructions in the readme file included in the kit.

If this is the first time you are flashing one of our ROM's, you may encounter some challenges in installing Windows drivers. Please download this First Time User Guide to help you throught he process:

I forgot to include the readme file in the ROM kit so here it is:

Welcome to my fully rooted RileyROM 1.0 Pipo M9 ROM April 3,2013. Randy Riley aka "RRileyPM"
    ____________
A personal ask please:Please do not post this ROM on file sharing sites! We really want to grow FreakTab.com.In order to make that happen, my ROM's on file sharing sites ONLY hurts me, and in the end hurts you!I will stop doing ROMs for people if my product continues to get stolen. Please understand my request. If you like my ROMs, it is easy to honor me by not posting them anywhere else.
    ________________

This is based on the Official Pipo ROM as on their web page.

Fixes added over stock ROM:Root, Ext4 file system, init.id support, and 2gb app space. __________________________________________________ ____

Important NOTES for flashing this ROM: I suggest erasing NAND for this ROM. The new kernel needs a clean /data setup! If you are coming from the Stock ROM, YOU MUST ERASE NAND IDB FOR THIS TO WORK and get a CLEAN setup!!! SUPER IMPORTANT for this release.REALIZE doing this will erase everything in memory. YOu will losee all your apps, etc.

Credits:Special credits to THE freak Tab Development People:1) 900SuperSport, for teaching me the ropes2) Petrus for the reboot APP. 3) Tattman65 for his boot screens and bootanimation. 4) Finless Bob, for providing moral support.

This is only for the Pipo M9.If you flash another device with this ROM there is a good chance you will brick your device. You are on your OWN with this ROM. Don't blame anyone if you mess up and brick your device!

    Instructions:
Before you do anything I suggest you go download the stock firmware fROM Pipo:

You may need this if something fails and you brick your device! I have flashed this ROM many times, and haven't needed to, though.
If you brick your device you will need to reflash in flash mode!

Unzip this package and put it on your desktop or a drive you know where it is.
    ______________________________

Drivers:This ROM requires you use the RK3188 AndroidTool utility (renamed ROM FLash Tool in my kit). In order to use this tool you will need to install the RK31 drivers. They are supplied with this package for bothWindows 32bit and 64bit. These are the same drivers used by the RKBatch Tool.

If you already have the drivers installed your all set. If not you will need to install them.
    1) I usually remove the SDCard while the unit is off before I start, if not, you will risk erasing it.2) Plug in the USB cable to the M9 and to your PC. DO not worry if the tablet is on. It may power on when you plug in the cable anyway.3) Make sure the power cord is connected! This is important in case your battery is low.4) Make sure USB debugging is off5) You should see the Connect to USB screen come up on the tablet.6) After about 5 seconds your PC should bong "device found". 7) Windows should complain that it could not install the device and may ask to look for drivers. That's OK. Close and driver dialogs, etc.6) Open the device manager in control panel. You should see a device listed as unknown with a yellow symbol in it RIGHT click on it and select "Update Driver".7) You will get a dialog asking to search or browse my computer for the driver. Click Browse8) On the next screen click the browse button. A file manager will open. Now remember I told you to unzip this package to somewhere you know how to find it like the desktop? Using the file manager point to this package, Click on the driver folder. Then click on the folder for 32bit or 64bit depending on your OS. Now click on your OS version, e.g. Win7, etc. The OK button should now be available to click OK. At this point the driver should install. If not start over.
    ________________________________

Flashing the ROM:OK driver is installed and we can now flash the M9 with the new images. The ROM Flash Tool tool is different than the Batch flash tool and the update.img ROMs.With this tool you will be flashing the basic image files. e.g. Kernel.img, boot.img, etc. 1) Open the package where you unzipped it and you will see a program called RKAndroidTool.exe. 2) 900Supersport has setup the config.ini file so all the IMGs are already set in the tool.
    3) Now here is how to get into flash mode.
With the FLash Tool:a) With the tablet booted to the OS, plug in your USB cable.b) Run the ROM Flash Tool. You should see at the bottom of the tool it says "Found RKAndroid MASS Storage USB".If it DOES NOT say this, turn off ->developer OPtions ->USB Debugging. It should now show MASS Storagec) Click the Reboot to Flash Mode button. Wait a few seconds and it should reboot to flash then wait a few seconds more for a good connection.d) If the drivers were installed OK, The tablet screen will go black and now you should see at the bottom of the tool,"Found RKAndroid Loader Rock USB"e) To be safe, close the flash tool and run it again to clear the tools memory. Now proceed to step 4.

    4) Now before you flash the ROM you must Erase NAND (IDB). Press that button.Yous should see Doing Lower Level Format. AND IMPORTANT it should count up to close to 4048 and finish! If it does not count up (which happens sometimes), close the tool and restart it and Erase again. If it still does not count up, close the tool and reboot the tablet into flash mode again and try again. You might needto adjust the plugs on both ends of the usb cable, or switch to a different usb cable. Make sure you don't have your USB cable plugged into a hub...it has to go directly into a USB 2.0 port.
    5) Now it's time to flash. Click the Flash ROM button and let it do its thing. It will take a few mintues minutes or so. When it is done the tablet will reboot on it's own.
FIRST BOOT!!!:FIrst boot up will take a while. Recovery has to format the partitions.Let it finish! PLEASE NOTE! The Current Pipo ROM has a bug and it can corrupt the SDcard if it is FAT32.This means your Nandroid backups can get corrupted!I suggest you keep your backups on a separate SDcard not used by the OS!!!!FYI, if you format the SDcard as NTFS instead of FAT32, the M9 will no longer corrupt the SDcard. This was a problem with all 3066 based devices, and I'm not sure if it continues with the 3188, but just watch out for it.__________________________________________
I hope you enjoy this fully rooted ROM! It has 2gb of system space available. It has full write access to /system. Su and superuser.apk are also installed.
    Enjoy,Randy Riley

That would be great. I tested it on my Cube 3188 tablet, but you never really know without the actual tablet.

You can be my first tester. Yeah!!!!

Does your tablet have a reset button hole?

That wouldn't happen to be a Gameloft game...would it?

If I'm working on a fix.
