Unpack
Make changes

Then either

Sign the boot.img with rkcrc and flash. There will be no embedded kernel.

Or use fun's mkboot.img to make the boot.img with embedded kernel.

trevd, were you able to get any further? I tried your script and it ended up breaking my ROM (got rid of root and busy box, unable to reinstall). I don't blame you obviously, just wondering if you have made any progress?
