I plan to use xbmc on a mk809ii device with files on a local fileserver using NFS or SMB. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Guys I have another question I have finless 1.7c on board xbmc hw 2nd february/mx player/ is there any chance that changing kernel to omegamoon or 2dark4u will improve video decoding ?

with those kernels you have oc capabilities and sure that this must improve the perforance, but be careful about overclocking and overheating. You can burn your device.

I used the skiploopfilter when i was using XBMC (without DXVA) on an Intel Atom 1.6Ghz system. As far as i know that only applies to software decoding. But maybe i'm wrong, i'll do some testing and if it works i can add that to the thread i started.

Anyway when using an overclocked kernel (it's the GPU that needs to be overclocked) you should be able to play 1080p movies fine even on a 1080p kernel. Not 100% sure if full 1920x1080 will work with the GPU at 433mhz or 400mhz (MK808 kernels). But 1920x800 or 1920x816 should play fine (and i guess that's about 90-95% of all movies)

You can read more about it HERE

Thank you guys for fast replay Ive read your post Abducted it is great ! I was thinking more about gpu oc than CPU. I have mk808 with original heatsink (but maybe if needed I will add bigger radiator from PC).

Just so you know i did re-write the whole opening post yesterday
Also a little part about power usage and heatsinks at the bottom. Do with that what you want.

Yes Ive read it today. Correct me if I am wrong in oc kernels from omegamoon gpu is overclocked to higher speed at start ? or you have to download other software to do it like it is with cpu ?

To be honest i have no experience with Omegamoon kernels. But most likely it will automaticly scale to 400mhz when under load. (If it's not locked at 400mhz to begin with). So im pretty sure you dont need an app to do so.

Just gave the skiploopfilter tweak a try, but as far as i could tell it didn't make any difference at all. Not for performance nor on video quality (since you would expect that to go down when you disable the filter).

Yesterday Ive tried to change kernel I am using finless 1.7c 1.4_kernel_MK808_720_GPU433_1416_RAM1160_VZ but as I suspected I dont see any differences in movie playback, maybe one my (mk808 was hot as hell). So oc gpu is useless ?

Ps. I prefer to play movies using xbmc with hw than mx player or bs player In my opinion xbmc is smoother.

When using HW accel decoding it is all about GPU speed. With the GPU at 433mhz and a 720p kernel you should be able to play even full 1920x1080 movies, 1920x800 for sure.

With my UG007-II, the GPU at 466mhz and a 1080p kernel i can play full 1920x1080 video even if i lock my CPU to 816mhz.

When you press O during playback what is your average framerate? And what files are you testing?

EDIT: Just flashed a stock 720p kernel on my UG007-II and even without overclock i can play 1920x816 video just fine.
